Year 9 Peer Support Leaders

I would like to formally commend our young men in Year 8 who have put their hands up to nominate for a peer support leadership role next year. I personally love the concept of a peer support leader as I believe at its core is the true meaning of leadership.

Leadership is not about being in charge; it’s about caring for those in your charge.”

In selecting our peers support leaders for 2026 it is important to be mindful of the leadership traits we want to see in all of our young men.

Resilience – Stand tall through challenges; your courage inspires others.

Connection – Building bridges between people changes lives.

Hope – Even a small spark of hope can light someone’s darkest path.

Integrity – Stay true to your values; authenticity builds trust.

Growth – Every experience, good or bad, helps you and others evolve.

Listening – Sometimes, being present is the greatest form of leadership.

Unity – Together, we rise higher than we ever could alone.

Purpose – You are here for a reason—to make a difference.

Exams and Final Assessments:

For our senior students in particular we are approaching a very busy and at times what can be a stressful period. Communication with Teachers is key, I encourage boys to reach out to their teachers. Years 11 and 12 students have this option available during SWOTVAC next week. Class time is where the business happens, utilise the time you have and the resources available to you. This supported with good routine and habits at home will set you up for success

  • Exams don’t define your worth — they simply reveal your growth.
  • The hard work is done prior to exams, preparation is key.
  • Being nervous is healthy, it shows that you want to do well. Embrace the nerves and give a good account of yourself.
  • Back yourself, if you’ve done the work then you have even more reason to believe in yourself.
  • Remember it’s not about anyone else, you are the focus.
