Student Leader Spotlight: Ayda

Ayda—an intuitive, unique, and caring Year 12 student whose quiet strength and thoughtful leadership have made a meaningful impact on our school community.

From Kellyville Public to HSC Excellence

Ayda began her academic journey at Kellyville Public School and is now completing her HSC with a well-rounded selection of subjects: Chemistry, Biology, Design and Technology, Visual Arts, Maths, and English. Her choices reflect a blend of scientific curiosity and creative expression.

Leading with Empathy and Experience

Ayda’s leadership journey began in Year 10 as a mentor for incoming Year 7 students. Motivated by her own experience starting high school during the uncertainty of COVID-19—and inspired by her younger brother beginning Year 7 that same year—Ayda stepped up to offer the support and reassurance she once needed. Her goal was to ease the transition for new students and make a positive difference in their early high school experience.

A Trusted Voice for New Students

One of Ayda’s proudest accomplishments as a mentor was forming a small group of students who felt comfortable coming to her with their questions and concerns. Knowing they trusted her and saw her as a reliable source of support was a defining moment in her leadership journey.

Balancing Books, Leadership, and Life

Ayda’s ability to juggle school, leadership and life outside the classroom is nothing short of impressive. She’s participated in the Duke of Edinburgh Award program, where she embraced challenges that built resilience, independence, and community spirit. From volunteering and physical activity to skill development and adventurous journeys, Ayda’s involvement in the program reflects her commitment to personal growth and service. Alongside this, she’s contributed to the Year 10 Peer Mentoring program, played and coached netball, and held a part-time job. Her strategy? Dividing her time into focused blocks for schoolwork, work, and hobbies—while also making time to rest and recharge when needed.

Quiet Leadership, Big Impact

As a naturally quiet individual, Ayda hopes her peers see that leadership isn’t about being the loudest voice in the room. “Leadership is about taking initiative, supporting others, and growing through experiences,” she says. Her journey—shaped by mentoring, team sports, and the Duke of Edinburgh program—proves that stepping outside your comfort zone can lead to confidence and growth.

Looking Ahead with Confidence

While Ayda hasn’t settled on a specific career path just yet, her leadership experience has shown her that she’s capable of more than she imagined. Whether it’s design, medicine, or something yet to be discovered, she’s ready to pursue her passions with confidence.

A Fun Fact and Words of Wisdom

Not everyone knows that Ayda is bilingual—well, she actually knows 1.5 languages. Her advice to younger students? “Don’t be afraid to try.” She hadn’t planned to run for leadership, but a last-minute stick animation submission led to her being selected for the 2026 leadership team. “Even if something feels last minute or scary, it’s worth giving it a go—you never know what can happen.

A Legacy of Teamwork and Kindness

As she prepares to graduate, Ayda hopes to leave behind a positive impact through the leadership team she’s proud to be part of. “While my individual impact may be small, I know that the team I am in will make a big difference,” she says. Together, they aim to set the stage for even stronger leadership in the years to come.

Dreams Beyond Year 12

After Year 12, Ayda’s first goal is to get her ATAR and apply to university. She’s open to exploring many paths—maybe design, maybe medicine—and hopes to see the world, experience new things, and adopt a cat along the way.
