Student Leader Spotlight: Sarah

Sarah — a passionate, committed, and faithful Year 12 student whose leadership is grounded in service, humility, and a deep care for others.

From Samuel Gilbert to Senior Leadership

Sarah began her schooling at Samuel Gilbert Public School and now pursues a rich HSC program that includes Ancient History, Modern History, Legal Studies, Business Studies, English Advanced, and Maths Standard.

Serving through School Spirit

Throughout her time at Kellyville, Sarah has actively contributed to school life through Year 10 Peer Mentoring, SRC, and helping run major events like Cross Country, Harmony Day, and the Christmas Drive. Her dedication to these programs reflects a consistent desire to serve and uplift her peers.

Inspired by Family, Driven by Growth

Sarah’s leadership journey was inspired by her parents, teachers, and older brother—himself a former Vice Captain. Their example taught her that leadership means putting others first and embracing challenges. “You can’t stand still if you want to grow,” she says. “You need to challenge yourself and embrace change.”

Vice Captain with a Voice

Now serving as Vice Captain for 2026, Sarah is proudest of her role as a voice for students and her active involvement in organising school events. Her leadership is defined not by titles, but by meaningful service to the broader school community.

Balance through Purpose

Managing school, leadership, and personal life is no easy feat, but Sarah approaches it with clarity and intention. “It’s not a burden—it’s something that needs to be done,” she explains. By planning her days and prioritising both wellbeing and responsibilities, she ensures that her commitments are met with care and consistency.

Leadership that Cares

Sarah hopes her peers see that leadership is about impact, not recognition. “I want others to see how I cared for people,” she says. Her journey is a testament to the power of hard work, empathy, and quiet strength.

A Future Fuelled by Courage

Student leadership has transformed Sarah’s outlook on the future. Once hesitant to step forward, she now embraces ambition and seeks new opportunities to lead and serve. Her goal is to study Law or History at university and continue building a life of purpose through community, university, and church involvement.

A Musical Surprise

A fun fact about Sarah? She taught herself how to play guitar—a hobby that reflects her self-motivation and love for learning.

Advice for Aspiring Leaders

Sarah’s advice to younger students is heartfelt: “Leadership isn’t about being the loudest or smartest—it’s about being selfless and putting others first.” She reminds us that leadership can be lived out in everyday actions, not just formal roles.

A Legacy of Faithfulness

When she graduates, Sarah hopes to be remembered as someone who was faithful in her role and made a positive impact on students and staff alike. Her legacy is one of encouragement, reminding others that everyone matters and everyone can make a difference.

Looking Ahead

Sarah’s post-Year 12 goals include university studies in Law or History and a continued commitment to leadership and service. With her unwavering dedication and compassionate heart, Sarah is sure to leave a lasting mark wherever she goes.
