School Vice Captain: Izaiah

Student Leader Spotlight: Izaiah
Izaiah—a sympathetic, empathetic and grateful Year 12 student whose dedication to helping others has shaped his leadership journey from the very beginning.
From Caddies Creek to Kellyville High
Izaiah attended Caddies Creek Public School before joining Kellyville High School, where he now studies Ancient History, Biology, Maths Standard, English Standard, and Multimedia for his HSC.
Leading with Heart
His leadership journey began in Year 10 as a member of the SRC, Peer Support Team and Exchange Student Support. Now serving as Vice School Captain, Izaiah’s inspiration to lead dates back to kindergarten. “I always wanted to be someone that helps others and someone others can look up to and towards for help,” he shares.
Making Connections that Matter
The accomplishment Izaiah is most proud of is the connections he’s made. “I love making people smile and just making friends with everyone I can,” he says. “Whenever I can make someone laugh and feel like I’m doing something good for them, I feel extremely proud of myself.”
Balancing the Chaos
Managing school, leadership, and personal passions isn’t easy, but Izaiah keeps a mental weekly schedule that helps him stay on track. “It’s extremely difficult and sometimes exhausting, but I keep pushing through so I can do schoolwork and also incorporate doing the things I love.”
Building Trust through Leadership
Izaiah hopes his peers learn to trust him through his leadership. “Trust is one of the greatest things to ever be gained from someone,” he says. “After gaining their trust, I can gain their insights.”
Shaping Future Goals
Being a student leader has added new dimensions to Izaiah’s future goals. While he’s long been interested in helping others—possibly through policing—he’s now exploring ways to build a social media presence to spread positivity and promote charities. “People who are well known have much more influence than police,” he explains.
A Fun Fact
Despite being lactose intolerant, Izaiah has a “really weird taste for everything dairy”—a surprising fact that adds a quirky twist to his personality.
Advice for Future Leaders
His advice to younger students? “To be a leader, you need people to know you. Go the extra mile to show people who you are and what you’re capable of. Don’t be afraid to talk to teachers and other students and let them get to know you too.”
Leaving a Legacy
When he graduates, Izaiah hopes to be remembered as “the guy anyone could go to.” He imagines future Year 7s saying, “Aw man, I wish I was in school when this guy was around—it would’ve been so cool.”
What’s Next?
After Year 12, Izaiah plans to relax before pursuing either acting school or the police academy—depending on which path opens up first.
