Student Leader: Shriya

Student Leader Spotlight: Shriya
In this special edition of Kellyville High School’s newsletter, we highlight Shriya—a trustworthy, encouraging, and reliable Year 12 student whose leadership journey has been defined by compassion, dedication, and a drive to uplift others.
From Kellyville Public to HSC Success
Shriya began her education at Kellyville Public School and is now completing her HSC with a diverse mix of subjects: Health and Movement Science, Community and Family Studies, Maths Standard, English Standard, Dance, and a TAFE Certificate III in Assistance in Nursing.
Leadership Rooted in Service
Her leadership journey began in Year 9 with the Student Representative Council, continuing through Years 10 and 11. Shriya also served as a Year 7 mentor, helping new students navigate their first year of high school. In Year 11, she joined the Generational Leaders Program, focusing on community problem-solving and leadership development.
Shriya’s commitment extended beyond Kellyville High School, representing the school in the Ponds Network SRC and later in the Metropolitan North SRC, which spans from the Northern Beaches to the Central Coast. She’s also been a passionate member of the Hills Relay For Life team, helping raise over $5000, and attended the Mitchell Youth Leadership Forum—a transformative experience that deepened her understanding of leadership.
Prefect with Purpose
Currently serving as a prefect in Years 11 and 12, Shriya is driven by the desire to create a supportive and inclusive school environment. “Being part of a leadership team allows me to contribute ideas, plan initiatives, and help improve the overall school experience for students,” she says.
Proud Moments and School Spirit
One of Shriya’s proudest accomplishments is seeing school events come to life—especially the Christmas drive, where the generosity of the school community shines. “Watching the whole school enjoy themselves shows that all the hard work is worth it,” she reflects.
Juggling It All
Shriya admits that balancing school, leadership, and life isn’t easy. “I honestly have no idea!” she laughs. She uses free periods to catch up, studies for about an hour each day, and makes checklists to stay on track—while still finding time for soccer and socialising.
Inspiring Teamwork and Respect
Through her leadership, Shriya hopes her peers learn that leadership is about more than titles—it’s about listening, supporting, and working together. She wants students to believe in their ability to create real change.
Shaping Her Future
Leadership has influenced Shriya’s career goals, helping her realise how much she enjoys working with others and making a positive impact. Her dream is to study nursing at university and join the Royal Australian Air Force as a Registered Nurse.

Advice for Aspiring Leaders
Her advice to younger students is simple: “Do it!!” She believes the relationships and experiences gained through leadership shape who you become. “Going into a leadership role is like walking in blind, and when you come out, you get a whole new vision of aspects you would never have thought of.”
Leaving Big Shoes to Fill
When she graduates, Shriya hopes to leave behind a legacy of hard work and dedication. She wants to be remembered not just for what she achieved, but for the way she made others feel—valued, supported, and heard. “I want to be remembered as someone who made a positive difference,” she says. Whether it was putting her hand up to help, offering encouragement to a classmate, or simply being there for a chat, Shriya strived to be a constant source of support and kindness. “I want to be someone that when I graduate, the school needs to find someone to fill the big shoes I left behind
