Student Leader: Lily

Student Leader Spotlight: Lily
Lily—an energetic, empathetic, and understanding Year 12 student whose leadership journey is defined by creativity, compassion, and a drive to make lasting memories.
From Elermore Vale to Empowerment
Lily began her educational journey at Elermore Vale Public School and now embraces the challenges of the HSC with a dynamic subject mix: English, Math, Biology, Legal Studies, Business Studies, and Community and Family Studies (CAFS). Her academic choices reflect a deep interest in people, systems, and the natural world.
Leading Through Action and Inspiration
Lily’s leadership story is one of initiative and influence. As a member of the School Leadership Team, a Year 7 Camp Leader, and a participant in the Generational Leaders Program, she’s been inspired by mentors like Mr. Maistry and Mr. Pike to step up and lead with purpose. Her involvement in sports, debating, mentoring, and school carnivals shows her commitment to building a vibrant, inclusive school culture.
A Tradition of Gratitude
One of Lily’s proudest achievements is launching the Teacher Appreciation Week tradition. She designed personalised envelopes and coordinated heartfelt messages from students to staff—an initiative that brought joy and recognition to the educators who shape the school community.
Balance Through Structure
With a full schedule of academics, leadership, and extracurriculars, Lily stays grounded by creating structured routines. “I create schedules and set aside time for each important aspect of my life,” she explains—a strategy that helps her stay ahead and present in everything she does including netball, basketball, touch football and more.
Sparking Innovation in Others
Lily hopes her leadership encourages peers to think creatively and act boldly. “I hope students learn the importance of taking their own initiatives and ideas and using them to create new, inventive solutions,” she shares. Her leadership is about empowering others to make a difference.
Shaping the Future
Leadership has opened doors for Lily, influencing her career aspirations and university plans. It’s also helped her grow personally, giving her the confidence to pursue opportunities and connect with others. And here’s a fun fact: Lily used to ride horses—a nod to her adventurous spirit.
Words of Wisdom
To younger students dreaming of leadership, Lily offers this advice: “Before leading others you have to be able to lead yourself. Work on building your skills and experiences and others will follow your example.” It’s a powerful reminder that leadership starts from within.
A Legacy of Joy and Tradition
Lily’s vision for her legacy is joyful and forward-thinking: “Starting many fun traditions for future generations of students to carry on to maximise the opportunity for memories they have in high school.” Her impact will be felt in the laughter, connections, and creativity she leaves behind.
Looking Ahead
After Year 12, Lily plans to study biology and wildlife conservation at university, go on a mission, and travel with her family. With her heart for service and passion for the planet, there’s no doubt she’ll continue to lead with purpose—wherever life takes her.
