From The Principal

I’m really pleased to share that I’ve been appointed as the substantive Principal of Hamlyn Views School. It’s a real privilege, and I’m genuinely grateful to continue leading a school community I’ve grown so connected to over the past 17 months. This place has a way of getting under your skin — in the best possible way — and I’m proud to be part of it.
I’m looking forward to working closely with our staff and families as we keep supporting our students to learn and grow. We’ve got a strong team, a great community, and plenty to look forward to together.
Thanks to everyone for your support so far — I’m excited for what’s ahead.
It was also a privilege to celebrate Bingyao Liu at the PASS Awards at marvel Stadium on Friday night, where she was a shortlisted finalist for Outstanding Allied Health Team Member. If you’ve seen the recent music video our students created, you’ll know exactly the kind of impact her work has — the smiles on student faces said it all. We’re incredibly grateful to have her on our team.
As we’re in the midst of our reporting and assessment cycle, we continue to celebrate as we look at the growth and achievements of our students this year. No matter how big or small — whether it’s a new skill, a moment of connection, a step towards independence, or simply having a great day — every success is worth acknowledging. Our students work incredibly hard, and it’s always inspiring to recognise their progress in all its forms. I also want to acknowledge the huge contribution of our staff, whose care, expertise and consistency make this growth possible every day. We’re looking forward to our Week 10 SSG meetings, where we’ll have the chance to sit down together, share updates, and celebrate your child’s achievements and progress from throughout the year.
Planning for 2026 is well underway, and we’re shaping up for 25 class groups – our biggest student cohort since we opened in 2018. We have several staffing changes happening across the school: a few team members returning from family leave, a new Occupational Therapist joining our Allied Health team, and recruitment currently open for an Assistant Principal, three teachers and two ES staff. This will give us a good mix of experience and fresh energy going into next year.
Our Step Up Day is on Monday 9th December. Students will spend time with their 2026 class groups, meeting new peers and getting a feel for next year’s routines and learning spaces. This helps set everyone up for a calm and confident start to Term 1.
Unfortunately, the end of the month has been a bit challenging due to an outbreak of illness across the school. Thank you for keeping unwell students at home, which helps minimise the spread and protects our more vulnerable community members.
