Learning Power Award Recipients

Congratulations to students who have been recognised by staff for their demonstration of one or many of the 6 Learning Powers celebrated at SMDP.

On Monday, during our whole school assembly, the following students were acknowledged and their learning described so we all know why they are worthy recipients of our awards and applause.

Aveer

The Learning Power Award is presented to you for your leadership and collaboration skills. You consistently demonstrates outstanding teamwork and leadership during collaborative lessons, often gently guiding his peers and keeping the group focused. You are always quick to offer support and encouragement, using thoughtful words to ensure every classmate feels valued. Well done, Aveer!

Lyra

Lyra, you have been a wonderfully curious learner during our science inquiry unit. You eagerly explored every activity, showing a real passion for discovery.  You were so focused on your investigations that you didn’t even notice everyone else working around you. Your determination, excitement, and love of learning shone through in everything you did. Keep being amazing, Lyra.

For consistently demonstrating resilience across a range of situations. This student approaches challenges with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn from every experience. When faced with conflict, he shows maturity by recognising his feelings, calmly expressing himself, and working through problems with his peers and teacher. His ability to persevere and bounce back makes him a wonderful role model for others. Well done Yashraj

For being a motivated learner. Your attitude and respect all week did not go unnoticed. In Inquiry, Lam worked effectively with his group, taking on a leadership role as they researched and presented information about pearl divers in Australia. He collaborated respectfully, supported his teammates, and contributed to a well-organised presentation.

For being a collaborative learner who participated with enthusiasm and a fantastic attitude during the Emmanuel College and school soccer competitions. She supported her teammates, cheering them on with a smile and a positive, can-do attitude. Thank you for helping make our classroom a fun and encouraging place to learn.

This learning power award goes to you for your fantastic collaboration skills. When paired with a brand new partner, you immediately demonstrated maturity and kindness and ensured you both participated successfully in the dancing popcorn experiment in Inquiry. Your constant positivity makes our class such a warm and happy place to be. Thank you and well done to Ethan!

For being a motivated learner throughout the semester. He has made thoughtful learning choices and focused well on his own tasks. Farhan has shown he can keep distractions for the playground, which supports his growing independence. These developing skills are helping him to achieve and progress in Prep. Well done on building your positive approach and growth mindset in learning, Farhan.

For being an excellent writer last week. This student  used his imagination to create an engaging and exciting story, carefully selecting adjectives from the word wall and incorporating a range of interesting openers to enhance his writing. He is now able to write independently with growing confidence, showing clear improvement in his ability to organise his ideas and enhance his sentences. We love reading your stories, well done Jordan.

For consistently showing the qualities of an excellent collaborator during group tasks. Your positive attitude and thoughtful approach to sharing ideas, negotiating, and making decisions helps your group solve problems and work towards a shared goal.
