Principal's Message

Carmela D'Amato

Dear Families,

What an exciting week we have had at School of The Good Shepherd!  Our school yard, which is normally used for footy games, soccer games, tag, running track and so much more has all of a sudden turned into an incubator for some native birds. The students have been so very resilient in managing a new play area while we wait to hear how we can have the birds and nest removed safely. Thank you once again to the amazing patience and resilience that our parents have shown and we ask for your patience as we navigate this new temporary arrangement. The Burnleigh Drive gate will remain closed for the time being until we are given new instructions from MACS and Agriculture Victoria.

Over the September holidays I was fortunate enough to visit Singapore. My husband and I set off one night  to find the Good Shepherd Cathedral, and what a beautiful Cathedral it is. On my travels last year I was also fortunate enough to accidentally find two statues by sculptor Timothy Schmalz, “The Homeless Jesus”. While we were exploring the Cathedral, we once again stumbled upon another statue purely by accident. Maybe homeless Jesus has been keeping an eye out for me. I certainly hope God’s love is able to protect me always.

Remembrance day

On Monday the 11th of November we will be remembering the end of  the First World War  as well as remembering all the armed force members who have died in the line of duty. Our students will be participating in a Remembrance Day Service in their classrooms.

A Prayer for Remembrance Day

God of love and justice, today we remember all men and women who died in defence of our country and its freedom.

Help us to honour their sacrifice through our prayers and actions for peace in our world.

Send your Spirit to help us to let go of misunderstandings, hatred and prejudice so that we may grow together as one family.

Guide our steps in the way of peace.

We ask this prayer through Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace.

Amen.
