Music and Performing Arts Faculty
From the Co-ordinator of Music and Performing Arts
As we begin Term 4, we are excited to share updates on what's happening in our Senior School Music program. Here’s what is in store for this term:
Farewell to the Class of 2024
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the Music 1, Music 2 and Music Extension students who have graduated this year. They have all excelled, and special recognition goes to Yarra (CG12), who has received a nomination for her outstanding Performance Program!
Excursion to the Sydney Opera House
During Week 1, our Elective Music students had the opportunity to attend a performance by the Sydney Symphony Orchestra at the Opera House, featuring 'An American in Paris' and Maurice Ravel’s Piano Concerto for the Left hand. The students were captivated by the experience, particularly the unique one-handed piano concerto, which left a lasting impression.
HSC Preparations for the Class of 2025
Our new Year 12 cohort has embarked on their HSC journey, demonstrating an inspiring commitment to their studies. This passionate group will complete their first HSC assessment in Week 7.
The HSC Music program offers both Music 1 and Music 2 courses, with Music 2 students having the option to undertake Music Extension. This year, we have a number of students pursuing the Performance Major option in Music Extension, which involves presenting an ensemble piece and two solo works.
Looking Ahead for Stage 5
As our students enter Stage 5 (Years 9 and 10), they often explore different pathways within music, with many showing a keen interest in furthering their performance skills.
If you have questions about your child’s musical journey or their progression through the school, please feel free to reach out. We’re here to support every student in their musical growth.
