Future Problem-Solving Scenario Writing – Co-Curricular Activity
During Terms 1 and 2 of this year, a dedicated group of Year 7 and 8 students applied themselves every Thursday lunchtime to compose stories to be entered in a global competition for futurist writing.
The stories focused upon the future consequences of “problems” arising today in areas such as the environment, autonomous transportation, and global populations. These stories required our students to come up with solutions, but also to be well-crafted with engaging characters, plotlines, and settings.
An outstanding story was crafted by Isabella (C8). This gained her access to the National Finals held in Melbourne. During the finals Isabella collaborated with other “like-minded” students and gained first place in the “Group Writing Competition”. This is an outstanding result, and Isabella is to be commended on her writing prowess and the contribution she has made to the wider success of Pittwater House as a school.
