Level 5 & 6 Wonga Weekly

Week 3, Term 4

📖 LITERACY

Students will be continuing their class novels and sharing their learning through a weekly Literature Circle. We will also be incorporating our critical literacy skills in analysing how advertising influences us as consumers.

The table below outlines the Language Conventions we will be looking at during our Literacy sessions.

🧮 MATHS

In Maths, we are continuing to investigate units of Measurement. We are solving worded problems using the knowledge we gained from hands on activities and conversion between metric units. We will also look at the formal algorithm for solving problems involving Volume.

💡CBL - CURIOSITY

We are excited to welcome two visitors this week, Tim Read and Frank Capperso. They will be sharing their experiences running their own businesses with ethics and sustainability in mind. They will explain their supply chains and their commitment to upholding their businesses' mission.

Preceding this visit, students will investigate supply chains of commonly used products and the different ethical values and practices of certain businesses, such as sharing a positive message, sustainability, supporting charities and fair trade.

📗GRADE 6 MEMORY BOOK

A suggested timeline and high quality examples have been posted to your child's Showbie account under 'Memory Books'. They have been briefed on the expectations and have been encouraged to follow the suggested timeline where possible. We look forward to seeing their completed books in late Term 4.

The pages for Prep, Grade 1, Grade 2, Grade 3 and Grade 4 should now be completed. Students should be working on their Grade 5 page and have this completed by Sunday 10th November.

👜 GRADE 5 BUDDY BAGS

Students should now have in their Buddy Bags a toy/game, an activity book, an alphabet book, a purchased toy and a letter to their buddy. The final task of creating a name plate will be completed at school, once we know the names of our buddies. We will meet our buddies on Wednesday the 20th November.

👒 HATS ON

As of September 1st, we would like to remind you that our school adheres to the SunSmart policy set by the Victorian Government. All students are required to wear a broad-brimmed hat when outdoors from the 1st September when UV levels are typically higher.

Please ensure your child brings a hat to school every day to protect them from the sun's harmful rays.

Thank you for your support in keeping our school community safe and sun-smart.
