Principal's Report

Kylie O'Donnell

Dear Parents and Carers,

As I sat down to write my contribution for this fortnight’s newsletter, I was reminded that it was around this time last year that I returned to school after visiting my eldest daughter, April, in Germany. Reflecting on that time, I treasure so many wonderful memories. I’ve included a few photos of Potsdam, the picturesque village where April lived and studied.

Last Friday, Year 5 led us in a beautiful liturgical celebration of All Saints Day. Through the readings, we were reminded to honour and pray for the Saints and Martyrs who have gone before us, including St. Margaret Mary, whose life highlights the power of prayer in deepening our relationship with Jesus. To conclude the liturgy, Year 5 sang a moving reflection so impressive that we have invited them to perform it again next week for the parents of the 2025 Kindergarten class.

The next six weeks will be busy, but like St. Margaret Mary, I encourage you to find moments of quiet to reflect and pray as we enter the season of Advent. This is a time of preparation, not only for Christmas but also for renewing our hearts and spirits in anticipation of Christ’s coming.

World Teachers Day

This year, our teachers celebrated World Teachers' Day a little later, with a lovely breakfast organised by Mrs. Gravina and the parents who contributed. A big thank you to everyone involved, your support is always appreciated. I encourage you to read the reflections from our teachers in Miss Frost’s Assistant Principal’s report. A heartfelt “hats off” to all our teachers for all you do each and every day.

Kindergarten Orientation

On Thursday morning we will be welcoming our 2025 Kindergarten students into the school for their first orientation. This always generates much excitement in the school community. I know our Year 5 students are eagerly anticipating their first contact with their buddies for next year and I am grateful to our current Kindy parents who have volunteered to provide morning tea and a few words of wisdom for our new families.

I am immensely proud of the nurturing and vibrant community here at St. Margaret Mary’s, where every child is supported to grow, learn, and thrive. If you know of families who are looking for a school where faith, learning, and character development are at the heart of everything we do, we would love for you to share your experience. Word of mouth is one of the best ways to help others discover our school, and we hope you’ll encourage them to join our welcoming and supportive community. Together, we can continue to build a future of learning and growth for all our students.
