Week 5 Term 4

St Fidelis School is committed to the care, wellbeing and protection of children, young people and vulnerable people in our community.

Dear Parents and Carers,

We hope you all had a lovely long weekend and refreshed for the last stretch of the school year.  This is a very short newsletter this week due to the short week.

Remembrance Day

Students and teachers will lead us in a short  prayerful reflection for Remembrance Day next Monday 11th November at 11:00am around the school flagpoles (weather permitting).

All families are very welcome to attend. It is always wonderful to see so many parents interested and involved with the learning opportunities we offer our students.

Reminder:

If you are able, we encourage you to attend the Remembrance Day Service on Sunday, November 10th, at the Coburg RSL (323 Sydney Road, Coburg).

Our very own Olivia S in Year 5 will have the honor of singing the National Anthem during the service. This is a wonderful experience and privilege for Olivia and her family, and it’s a meaningful occasion for our community to gather in respect and gratitude for those who have served.

Attending this service offers students a valuable opportunity to learn about and reflect on the sacrifices made by past generations. It's a way for young people to understand and appreciate the significance of peace and unity, and to feel connected to our shared history. We hope to see many of you there to support Olivia and honor this important day.

Planning for 2025

Planning for 2025 is well underway. As I am sure you can appreciate, student placement in classes for the following year is something we take seriously and take time to consider. The “Class Creator” program assists us to sort students into classes based on:

  • Academic, emotional and social needs
  • Reasonable gender balance across classes
  • Reasonable  academic balance across classes
  • Relationships of students both working and friendship
  • Special placements needs

The teachers also ask their students to list three friends that they learn well with, not necessarily are their best friends. We consider students' voices when planning classlists.

The staff as professional educators, make decisions in light of what is best for the child and for the school. If you believe you need to communicate any information that could impact on your child’s placement, please email mwatson@sfmoreland.catholic.edu.au for consideration no later than Friday 8th November.

Information should be based on individual needs and not requests for teachers. Please note a request is not a guarantee, it will inform the process. Emails received after this day will not be considered

Zooper Dooper Fridays

Each Friday in Term 4, our Parents and Friends and school Leaders will be selling Zooper Doopers for $1 at lunch time.

Hope you all have a lovely week,

Manuela
