Congratulations to Team sVc, winners of the Year 7 Div 1 SSATIS Soccer Competition on Wednesday, defeating The Hutchins School 4-1 in a pulsating final. The level of skill and teamwork on display from both sides was nothing short of outstanding. The future of sVc Football (Soccer) is certainly in good hands.
Well done boys and thank you to Olympia F.C. Warriors for hosting the final and to the match officials.
More student achievements during the last week of September and into the holiday break, with seven Years 7-8 students competing in the Premier Invitational Tournament on the Gold Coast with Showtime Soccer School.
The 3-day competition was fierce with teams from across Australia. However, the Tassie boys held firm in the heat, with the U13 team winning their last six matches, and placing first in the Europa Cup tier!
sVc Students were:
Ayrton Brown - Year 8
Jensen Brown - Year 7
Zach K-S - Year 7
Hendrix Taylor - Year 7
Benjamin Thayer - Year 7
Isaac Thayer - Year 7
Will Thayer - Year 7
Congratulations boys!
Congratulations to Year 8 Student Athlete Charlie Marsden who just finished up a solid week of Tournament play in Burnie over the holidays, competing in the Burnie Open and Rafa Nadal Tour events.
Some great results for Charlie in making the final of the Rafa Nadal Tour U14 Boys comp, going down 6-4, 6-4 against a much higher ranked opponent from the mainland (and narrowly missing a chance to play in Melbourne leading up to the Australian Open in January).
Well done Charlie. Keep reaching for the stars!
Congratulations to the St Virgil's College students who participated in the Touch Football Tasmania National Championships in Coffs Harbour over the holiday break.
Whilst the tournament was somewhat reduced due to the horrendous weather, our students played their hearts out and were recipients of major awards as per below.
U14 Boys
MVP: Ryder Jones
Player's Player: Preston Cornish
U16 Boys
Player's Player: William Anderson
Congratulations to Year 7 Student Athlete Finlay Child who has been selected in the Tasmanian Team for the AusTriathlon State Pathway.
In January, Finlay will head to a training camp in Bridport, with other Tasmanian State Pathway Members, before heading to the Gold Coast for the Australian Youth and Junior Super Sprint Championships.
Being part of this pathway will allow Finlay to not only race at a National level and improve and develop his skills but will learn about nutrition and good sportsmanship.
Finlay will also be representing the College at the High Schools Triathlon Challenge at Bellerive next month.
Best of luck Finlay!
And we wish all of the 29 sVc students that have been nominated to participate in the High Schools Triathlon Challenge at Bellerive Beach on Thursday 28 November.
Congratulations to student athletes Ewan McIlwraith (Year 9) and Xavier Wright (Year 10) for being selected to represent Tasmania in the Interstate Surf Lifesaving Championships.
These talented lifesavers will represent Tasmania at the national Interstates and Super Surf Teams League events, taking place at Wanda Beach, NSW from 13-15 December.
Please check your email for correspondence via EdSmart. All teams, rosters and information have now been sent out for the following Term 4 activities.
