From the Classroom
Year 4 Camp
On Wednesday 23rd October, the Year 4s ventured off to The Ranch. The camp was filled with adventure, learning, and camaraderie. Over the 3 days the students participated in activities like the giant swing, flying fox, archery, rock climbing, hut building and lots of team building games. The students loved eating delicious meals in the camp’s chapel, as well as sleeping in their cabins with their friends.
The Ranch’s new wellbeing initiative meant that a staff member from the Ranch attended Karoo prior to the camp to discuss a targeted goal, which was ‘resilience’. This was a great way for the students to learn more about the camp, but also to feel more excited and at ease. Dave from The Ranch, also met with the students after the camp, to debrief and celebrate the success of the camp and growth the students made. The Ranch staff noted on multiple occasions how impressed they were with the kindness and respectful manner in which the students conducted themselves.
A special thank you to our Karoo Staff and Parent Helpers, who dedicated themselves to ensuring everyone had a great and safe time. Overall this camp was an opportunity for students to connect with the great outdoors, develop some new skills, and strengthen new friendships. We can’t wait for more camps in the future!
“One of the best memories was after I pushed through the challenging moments and succeeded in the activities”.
“My favourite part of camp was at the giant swing when everyone in my group was chanting my name and at the night hike I had the most awesome time because the sunset was so bright and big”.
“Stepping out of my comfort zone will help me in my life to take risks. Step out of your comfort zone and just do it!”.
