Learning Power Award Recipients

Congratulations to students who have been recognised by staff for their demonstration of one or many of the 6 Learning Powers celebrated at SMDP.

On Monday during our whole school assembly, the following students were acknowledged and their learning described so we all know why they are worthy recipients of our awards and applause.

For being a resilient learner who keeps trying to make her work better even when it feels hard.  She is not afraid to ask questions, seek clarification, and persevere through difficult tasks. For being a collaborative learner every week! Rhea is a caring and supportive member of our classroom. She is a helpful friend who makes sure they feel happy and safe. We are so lucky to have someone like you with your calm and happy energy in our room, thank you Rhea!

For being a resilient learner. You have been ready to learn and take things in your stride the past couple of weeks. During our fraction games and partner activities you have used a strategy when things aren't quite going to show resilience, keep going and carry on with a big smile. Well done Jake!

For being a reflective learner during writing. Ivy has been transferring her skills from Grammar in Context to her independent narrative writing, making her pieces engaging and entertaining to read - like a real author! Well done Ivy, you should be extremely proud of your commitment to improving your craft.

For being a creative and motivated learner in writing. Aoife used the structure from the book ‘Dog Lost’ to write a captivating narrative about a dog and a farmer. She demonstrated strong writing skills through her ideas, vocabulary, sentence structure and paragraphs. I always enjoy reading your writing, keep up the fantastic work Aoife!

Sofia consistently demonstrates the qualities of a collaborative learner. She listens carefully, includes others, and contributes thoughtfully to group work. Sofia’s ability to work well with her classmates helps everyone reach their goals together. Great work, Sofia!

For being a creative learner who has brought her inquiry question to life through an appealing poster. You demonstrated a strong understanding of your inquiry question and were able to present your information in a logical and organised way. You did an amazing job, Well done Akira!

For being a resilient and collaborative learner. On Friday, You kept a positive attitude, despite the cold and rain,  and not feeling 100%. You were supportive of everyone and were a real team player! You really led by example, showing how to make the best of all opportunities you are given. Keep showing this amazing spirit Harvey!

For being a resilient learner!  During Term 3 you multi-tasked beautifully, even though it wasn’t easy.  You were a star during our musical, were outstanding at district sports at shotput and discus, and worked really well in our classroom, improving your reading skills.  Even though you had a lot going on, you never gave up and you did everything with a smile!  Well done Ciara!
