This week, our Year 7 students marked a special milestone—100 days of secondary school! To celebrate, they took a step back in time and explored what the College looked like 100 years ago. Through a fascinating photo presentation, they discovered long-gone tennis courts at the front of the school, the former dining hall for boarders in the Whyte building, and the elegant uniforms of the past, complete with long gloves and hats.
The celebration also included a heartfelt look back at their own first 100 days of high school. A slideshow captured highlights of their journey so far—from orientation and transition days, to Year 7 camp, and the meaningful connections formed with their Year 12 Big Sisters and Year 11 Peer Support Buddies.
To top it all off, students enjoyed a sweet treat: a cupcake to celebrate not just how far they’ve come, but all the exciting things still to come in their high school journey.
Our curious Year 7 students have been diving into the fascinating world of solids, liquids, and gases. As part of their exploration, they rolled up their sleeves and got hands-on with one of the most intriguing materials in science—slime!
Through this fun and tactile activity, students investigated how slime can behave like both a solid and a liquid, depending on how it is handled. When left alone, it flows like a liquid, but when squeezed or stretched quickly, it acts more like a solid. This helped students understand how the particles in different states of matter behave, and that not all materials fit neatly into just one category.
It was a messy, engaging, and memorable way to bring science to life—and a highlight of Term 3 for many of our budding scientists!
