Families of Year 7 and 9 students should have received their NAPLAN results in the post this week.
In 2020, the Victorian Government introduced certificates for Year 9 students who demonstrated high achievement and high growth in Reading and Numeracy. Due to COVID-19 and changes to NAPLAN reporting levels, while high achievement has continued to be celebrated, growth could not be measured until 2025. We are delighted to announce that over 40% of our Year 9 students have received a certificate of achievement or growth in Numeracy or Reading. These certificates will be presented to students at an assembly towards the end of term.
As we continue to support student growth and encourage students to set goals and perform at their highest level, we have been rewriting our Year 7-10 rubrics. These updated rubrics are designed to support students in their learning, encourage goal-setting, and challenge learners at all levels. The rubrics provide clear pointers and guidance about what students need to do, say, make, or write to demonstrate understanding at each level.
Prior to completing an assessment, students should read the descriptions at each level in the rubric to understand what is required. Students will also notice that to achieve 'Mastering' level, their work needs to demonstrate a much deeper level of sophistication and insight.
Over the next month, students will begin considering their subjects and courses for 2026. This is an exciting, yet sometimes challenging, time as students start to consider their future ambitions, pathways and plans. All students will receive comprehensive support and guidance over the coming weeks, including:
All Year 10 students and families are invited to attend the online VCE Information Evening on Wednesday, 20 August, followed by the VCE Expo for Year 10 students on Friday, 22 August.
