The rain has stopped, and the air is warm. Spring has sprung, the Spring Cup has begun. The Spring Cup is a lunchtime futsal competition run by the Prefects. It is a positive way for the boys to spend their time between lessons. Much of what we do at school is about developing good habits and a little exercise every day fits the bill.
I started the year by talking about 'simple things done well.' And I'll keep talking about it. A good night's sleep - without the distractions of social media, arrive to school on time, in the correct school uniform, phones off and away in the schoolbags, the correct subject specific books and a pencil case will ensure positive interactions with the teachers.
Organisation is a challenge for many teenage boys, but these really are simple things. When simple things are done well good things happen. Your help at home is appreciated.
The boys have completed their Trial HSC exams. The boys have their marks but more importantly TEACHER FEEDBACK on their performance.
There will be an emphasis on the FEEDBACK LOOP. Exemplar responses will be modelled, work will be marked, and the boys will redo questions that require improvement.
Besides the above there is still coursework to be completed, and this will vary from subject to subject – depending on their subject plan.
We have experienced HSC teachers and HSC markers who know how to get the SHIFT from the Trials to the HSC.
Mind, body and spirit
With the strategies above we have also addressed the importance of student wellbeing.
