We often refer to Term 3 as event season because there is so much going on, especially from our co-curricula programs and in celebrating the achievements of our students.

Some key events this term have included various focus areas that showcase the importance of participation in as many areas of school life as possible:

  • Citizenship - SRC fundraisers (Krispy Kreme + Father's Day Stall)
  • Creative and Performing Arts - An Evening of Music, Drama Night, Visual Arts Showcase
  • Leadership - Duke of Edinburgh, Prefect Camp and Assembly, Honour Book Assembly, Debating
  • Sport - Winter Grade Sport Assembly, Bill Turner Cup, Waratah Shield
  • Technical and Applied Studies - Tas Expo
  • Wellbeing - B Street Smart Excursion, Red Frog program, Mental Health Seminar, RUOK Day?, Backflips Against Bullying

Another significant feature of Term 3 is the completion of the Major HSC Projects. These take so much time, planning, dedication and problem solving for the creation of a successful project. For our students who complete subjects with a Major Project it is like they do two HSCs - the project in Term 3 and then their exam in Term 4. I am so proud of how hard our students, and their teachers have worked with these projects. Thank you to all the teachers involved in supporting these in the following subjects:

Design and Technology - Mr Simmons

Drama - Mr Taplin

English, Extension 2 - Ms Hoy

Industrial Technology Multimedia - Ms Zhurawel

Industrial Technology Timber - Mr Mathieson and Mr Bell

Music 1, Music 2, Music Extension - Mr Mutch and Mr Tabrett

Society and Culture - Ms Forrest

Visual Arts - Ms Chang and Mrs Whalley

As our Year 12 students come to the last couple of weeks at school with us before they start their HSC Exams next term, I hope the look back fondly on the many experiences they have had both in the classroom and beyond it!
