LUCAS LEAP

This Wednesday, 30th July, is National Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) Educators’ Day - a day to recognise the incredible impact OSHC educators have on children, young people, and their families.

This year’s theme, “Recognition and Appreciation,” highlights the dedication and passion these educators bring to Before School Care, After School Care, and Vacation Care programs across Australia.

We celebrate the care, creativity, and safe environments OSHC staff create, helping children learn, play and grow outside school hours. Special thanks to the Lucas LEAP team, including Tahlia and casual Education Support staff, whose service is a valuable asset to Lucas Primary School.

At Lucas LEAP last term, our focus was on cultures. Students engaged in a variety of hands-on activities, stories, and celebrations that helped them appreciate the diversity within our community and around the world. It was wonderful to see the curiosity, respect, and understanding that grew from these experiences.

This term, our focus turns to sustainability. Together, we will be exploring practical ways to care for our environment from reducing waste and recycling to looking after our shared spaces. These experiences will encourage students to think about how small actions can make a big difference for the future.

During the school holidays, our vacation care program provided plenty of fun and adventure. Highlights included a trip to Showbiz to watch the new Smurf's movie, and even a day at Gym sports for some gymnastics fun, filled with energy, teamwork, and lots of laughter.
