Library News

The countdown to Book Week has begun!
We have already begun exploring the CBCA nominated books during our library lessons, and as always, there are many to love!
The theme of Book Week this year is: Book an Adventure!
This year, we will hold our Book Parade on Tuesday 19th of August on the
Green playground, at 2.15pm.
All Welcome!
Children may come to school dressed as a chosen book character or they may choose to relate the theme of adventure to their costume.
Please note, there is no need to go to any expense, a costume put together from items at home or out of the recycling bin is both creative and adventurous!

We are very excited to welcome author Susanne Gervay to St Anthony's during Book Week! If families would like to order copies of Susanne's books to be signed, the information is provided below. Please note the cut off date if you would like the books to be signed on the day.
During Book Week we like to raise funds for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation, and would be grateful if each child could please bring a gold coin donation on Tuesday the 19th for this very worthwhile cause.
We are also holding a guessing competition to help raise funds for the ILF. For 50 cents a guess, students can guess how many 'bookworms' are in the jar. The winner will be announced during our Book Week parade.
The Premier's Reading Challenge continues...
I am excited to report that our entire Kindergarten, Year One, Year 2 and Year 3 classes have already completed the challenge!
Congratulations to all of these students, and thanks to their teachers and parents for supporting the children with their reading.
Lots of our older students have also completed the challenge to date. Those who are still working toward the target of 20 books for Years 3-6 have until the 19th of September to log their books.
As always, I am here to help - many students bring me lists of books to be added to their accounts, and I encourage anyone who needs help logging books to do this.
Your support in encouraging the children read each day is greatly appreciated!
Don't forget your library bags!
Please take note of your child's library day, so they don't miss out on borrowing.
Tuesday: Years 3, 5, 6 and 1
Thursday: Years 2, 4 and Kindergarten
Yours in Love and Service,
