SWPBS Update – Reflecting on Term 2 & looking ahead to Term 3

At Western Port Secondary College, we know that how students arrive at school – in attitude, presentation and mindset – sets the tone for their success. Term 2 has seen great progress in reinforcing our expectations around behaviour, uniform, and classroom readiness, and we’re proud of the many students who consistently get it right.

As we move into Term 3, we’ll be sharpening our focus through the Reteach Process, where students work one-on-one with their classroom teachers to reflect on choices, relearn expectations and re-enter classrooms with a clear plan to succeed. This process isn’t about consequence – it’s about coaching, accountability and giving students the chance to step up and have high expectations for their learning and themselves.

Key expectations in Term 3:

  • Uniform: Full school uniform every day. No hoodies or PE trackies if it’s not a PE practical day! Don't forget our new puffer jackets are in stock to keep warm this Winter.

  • Ready to Learn: Students must arrive to class with charged laptops and all required learning materials. Don’t have something you need for the day? Head to the Reset Centre before school to fix this up!

  • Respectful Behaviour: Classrooms are learning spaces. Disruptions will be followed up through the Reteach process, with support and accountability.

We’re proud of those who consistently meet expectations, and we know every student is capable of growth. Term 3 is about taking ownership and stepping up.

🌈 IDAHOBIT Day at Western Port – Standing Proud Together

This term we proudly celebrated IDAHOBIT Day – the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia. The event was an important opportunity for our school community to stand together in support of inclusion, respect, and the rights of LGBTQIA+ people everywhere.

The day featured a range of colourful, student-led activities including rainbow bracelet making, pride-themed games and conversations about representation, identity, and allyship – the highlight of these activities was Freya Moorhouse, who ran a rainbow nail salon! Our staff and student allies wore rainbow ribbons and badges (Big shout out to Sand Williams & Kimberly Rose Nixon, who were our champion rainbow greeters, handing out badges and lanyards to everyone on the day) to show visible support and spark important discussions across the College.

We were also honored to welcome guest presenters from Minus18, who ran powerful sessions with students focused on creating safe spaces, understanding lived experiences, and learning how to be effective allies. Staff participated in professional development that reinforced our shared commitment to fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for every student, regardless of gender or sexuality.

IDAHOBIT Day is more than just a celebration—it’s a reminder that every student deserves to feel safe, seen, and valued. At Western Port, we’re proud to continue championing inclusion and building a school culture where everyone belongs.

Wellio Wellbeing Update – Term 2 Recap & Term 3 Preview
