Principal Update

Dear Western Port Secondary College Community,
Womin Djeka and welcome to another edition of the Western Port Word, filled with messages of pride, progress and the achievements we've made as a college this term.
Our capital works project took another step towards final completion with the omni-grip for our Womin Djeka mega graphic on the building and concrete installed. With just the fencing to separate the pedestrian and vehicle areas to go, we are proud of this local language message which is loosely translated as ‘Welcome and Come with Purpose’.
I’d also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate some significant student achievements from this term, including:
- Archie Underwood who, as part of his Certificate III Art Studies at Chisholm Tafe, has had his artwork recognised in the small artworks exhibition at the Frankston Cube Gallery
- Sam Field who has been selected in the 2025/26 Victorian Country Cricket U/17 male emerging players squad who will play in the National Championships in January 2026
- Ben and Daniel Collins both represented the college and the Regional School Swimming Championships recently with Daniel being selected to represent team Victoria at the National Swimming Championships in Brisbane.
In addition to these achievements, the excitement is also building for the return of a school level production to be delivered by our Drama Club students who will be performing ‘The Snow’ by Finegan Kruckmeyer. With the guidance and support from Mrs Mckenzie, our students are very much looking forward to the two evening performances on both Tuesday 5 and Wednesday 6 August 2025 starting from 6:30pm. As we begin Semester Two, I look forward to continuing our efforts to strengthen the college’s high-performance learning culture. This includes deepening our engagement with key school-wide initiatives which include the Science of Learning and Reading (SOLAR), Classroom Mastery, and our School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) framework.
I hope you all Enjoy a safe and relaxing school holiday break and we look forward to our students returning on Tuesday 22 July following our curriculum day on Monday 21 July.
Kind Regards,
Chris Quinn
