The Hillsmeade Marine Ambassadors (Ava, Tegan, Kyson and Sara) attended their final workshop for the year on a seal exploring adventure.
The ambassadors were fortunate to see 3 seals, some water birds and a few jellyfish. Unfortunately the weather was not favourable and we had to turn back before reaching Seal rocks, but the adventure was still a lot of fun.
The Marine Ambassador program is run by the Dolphin Research Institute - Hillsmeade is one of several schools in the City of Casey that takes part in the program. Students in Year 4 and Year 5 are encouraged to apply for this program in 2024. Successful students will become Marine Ambassadors and attend many workshops throughout the year to strengthen their understanding of our marine environment and develop leadership skills.
Hillsmeade was excited to be part of National Recycling Week in November. Students across all year levels explored what happens to recycling, what items can be recycled and why it's important to sort waste correctly. In the City of Casey you might have a blue recycling bin or a yellow lid recycling bin - the blue recycling bins are being phased out. If your recycling bin needs replacing then you will get the new updated yellow lid bin.
