'Let’s Talk About Mental Health'
Last week was an exciting whirlwind for our dedicated school leaders, Grace and Sophie, as they had the incredible honour of meeting the renowned musician, Guy Sebastian, at the empowering 'Let’s Talk About Mental Health' event hosted by Hand in Hand Ballarat. Hand in Hand, a collaboration of three local businesses - Tennis Ballarat, PilatesFit Plus, and The Playground Gym, has been working towards raising funds and awareness for youth mental health, along with the implementation of The Open Parachute Program. We feel immensely privileged to be one of the select five primary schools in the Ballarat area actively engaged in this program.
In the spotlight of the event, Grace and Sophie not only had the chance to personally interact with Guy but also took part in a captivating Q&A session on stage. Guy shared his heartfelt motivations for supporting the Open Parachute program through the Guy Sebastian Foundation, underlining the vital significance of imparting preventive mental health techniques. He emphasised that lending an ear and truly listening is a paramount superpower.
Furthermore, our young leaders were deeply inspired by the touching narratives of guest speakers Shayne Reece and Josh Hose, who fearlessly shared their own journeys of resilience and highlighted the invaluable act of reaching out to others during challenging times. Such experiences undoubtedly left an indelible mark on our students, reinforcing the importance of empathy and support within our school community.
Open Parachute also has some great parent resources, check out the link below for more information:
