Engagement & Wellbeing

Staying Healthy and Well

The colder weather has continued to linger, and unfortunately along with it some viruses and illness.

We are continuing to take the important steps of ensuring air purifiers are in use, external ventilation is maximised, good personal hygiene is encouraged and face masks continue to be made available for staff, students and visitors who wish to wear them.

A reminder that students displaying symptoms of any illness should not attend school.

Should students become unwell during the school day parents will be asked to collect their child from school and to keep them home until they are no longer symptomatic.

Thanks to everyone for helping to keep our school community healthy.

Student Leadership

We really enjoy providing our students with leadership opportunities across the school. It's wonderful to witness the growth and dedication of our students as they step into leadership roles and embrace the responsibilities that come with them.

All of our grade 6 students have the opportunity to be a part of one of our leadership teams and always do a really good job. Our year 5 students will soon begin the process of applying for preferred roles in 2024.

Last Friday a few grade 5 students had the opportunity to help out and experience running the 3/4 assembly, with our regular year 6’s off on camp.

They did an exceptional job in preparing for the assembly and presenting on the day. A big thanks to Pepper, Ella, Tom & Fraser for jumping in and being willing to help out.

We also had some year 4 students assist with the pre-schooler program on Wednesday when all of the year 5/6‘s were away, and these students were also fabulous.

These experiences not only provide valuable experience but also strengthen the bonds within our school community and enable students to build upon the values of leadership and teamwork. Well done!

Class of 2017

As we approach the end of the year, it is timely that we think about those past students of Buninyong PS who are about to sit their Year 12 exams or equivalent.

Below are some pictures of the students from 2011 when they were in prep and started their school journey… ahh, the memories!

Best wishes to all our past students who are making the transition from secondary education in the coming weeks.

Bunjil Student Awards

Congratulations to the following students who received a Bunjil Award at last week’s 3/4 assembly.

Bunjil awards recognise student achievement and those who display our school values of being respectful, responsible and kind.

Well done! All of our weekly winners enjoy a hot chocolate with a principal.

ROCTOBER

ROCtober is designed to encourage, promote and recognise positive behaviour across the school and is linked to our School Wide Positive Behaviour (SWPB) model.

Teachers will be awarding raffle tickets throughout the month to students who are consistently demonstrating the school values and leading the way with behaviour. At the end of the month, two students from each class will be drawn out, and these students will be invited to attend the movies in mid November with the other students from across the school.

The more tickets each student receives, the more chances they will have.

Of course, the greatest reward is fostering a school environment where kindness, respect, and responsibility are at the forefront of our daily interactions. ROCtober serves as a fun and motivating way to reinforce these values and build a sense of unity within our school community.

We encourage all students to embrace this opportunity to shine and exemplify the qualities that make Buninyong Primary School such a wonderful place to learn and grow.

Let's make ROCtober a month filled with positive actions and kind gestures, knowing that together, we can make a lasting impact on our school culture. Thank you for your continued support in fostering a positive learning environment for our students.
