Grade 2 Sleepover

With their PJs packed and their sleeping bags tucked under their arms, our Year 2 children chattered excitedly in the library in anticipation of night time. After a full day of camp activities including hut building and go karting, the children had worked up an appetite for dinner. They enjoyed an evening walk around the grounds that featured cartwheels from both Louise and Mel. After some supper and a movie, the children all slept soundly and woke to a beautiful morning. Thank you to the Year 2 team, co-educators and staff who all supported the event! Get some well-earned rest over the weekend.

Afternoon Tea Market Stall a Hit

Last Friday our Year 5 families baked up a storm to prepare for our Afternoon tea Market Stall. There were trays of chocolate chip cookies and many plates of brownies, cakes, honey joys and other treats to go around. It was wonderful to see lots of families hanging back after assembly to buy some special treats from the stall to kick off the long weekend. We look forward to continuing the Afternoon tea Market Stall every second Friday after assembly. Thank you to the PFA for organising the stall, and an especially BIG thank you to all the bakers in Year 5 for preparing the treats.

With the money raised we were able to purchase outdoor games from Gisborne Village Homewares which our Year 2 children enjoyed at their sleepover this week.

Orienteering

Under radiant sunshine, our Year 5 and 6 children headed off to Tony Clarke Reserve last week for an Orienteering excursion. After having to reschedule the event from the week before due to wet weather, the excursion turned out to be worth the wait. The group was greeted by Dave Oxford from Macedon Primary, who carefully guided them through the intricacies of the courses that lay ahead.

Dividing into groups, the children set off through diverse terrains to locate all the markers on the different courses. As the courses varied in difficulty, the children had to work together as a team and problem-solve throughout the afternoon in order to navigate the maps correctly.

Aside from mapping and trekking through the pine forests the children also thoroughly enjoyed catching up with friends from other schools. Overall the event was a great success and the children had a wonderful time together.

Thank you to our parent helpers who came along to support the children, and well done to the Holy Cross children for representing the school in such a responsible manner. We look forward to attending again next year!
