Aoife's Message

Hello Holy Cross families,

What a beautiful sunny end to the week. Today we welcomed our Prep 2024 children for their first orientation session. It was an absolute joy to see them happily head off to play in the classroom. We can't wait for you all to come back and visit us next week!

Remembrance Day

We gathered as a whole school this afternoon to commemorate Remembrance Day.  The children were very reverent and our Year 4 A class, along with the support of Sian, did a wonderful job of leading the service. A wreath will be placed on behalf of the Holy Cross community at the local Gisborne service this weekend.

Staffing update 2024

Sharon Healy will not be returning to Holy Cross next year, we thank Sharon for all that she has given to our community over the years and wish her well on her next journey. Due to low numbers of enrolments in our junior school,  next year we will have one Prep class and one Year 1 class. Unfortunately this means that we cannot retain all current staff. We will farewell Michelle Ray at the end of this year, we are grateful for the warmth that Michelle brought to our children throughout the year. Susan Wilson will continue to be part of the Holy Cross team through working on a casual relief teaching basis. All other teaching staff, support staff and admin/leadership team are looking forward to returning to Holy Cross in the new year, ready to consolidate and embed the many learnings we have made across this year.

Parent Webinar - Thursday 16th November

Throughout the year we have partnered with Inform & Empower to deliver cyber safety lessons to our children. We have also committed to three parent webinars to support families with a variety of everyday challenges. The third and final webinar in the series is called 'Tackling Tricky Conversations' and will be presented by Carley McGauran. Please see below for further details. The cost of the webinars has been paid by Holy Cross, we encourage all interested families to register.

Have a peaceful weekend,

Aoife
