WELLBEING

Wean your Teen (or Child) off the Screen

We have attached this great article from Andrew Fuller.  It is full of some great information and tips for families.

News from 1/2

During our unit on 3D shapes, the 1/2 Year Level were visited by a group of Kilbreda students.  The students had planned a series of activities around different 3D shapes and their properties, and ran them in small groups in each of the classrooms.  It was fantastic to see the different aged students working together and learning with each other.  All of the activities were hands on, educational and most importantly…fun!

Social and Fundraising

Hello St Brigid’s Families,

I can’t believe we’re in the middle of term 4 and almost at the end of the year! We have some very exciting events coming up to finish off the year.

Thank you to everyone who has signed up so far and started fundraising for the Colour Explosion Run for Fun, so far we have raised $1,680 which is fantastic. If you haven’t already, don’t forget to sign up and start fundraising https://australianfundraising.com.au/. Fundraising will close 1st of December.

Colour Explosion Run4Fun will take place on Friday the 1st of December at 2pm on the oval across the road with a fun obstacle course set up. Children are to come to school in casual sport clothes (preferably white with a touch of their house colour as they will be separated into their house groups). Old clothes are good as they will get coloured.  Please remember if you want to get coloured wear a WHITE T-SHIRT.  If you DO NOT want to be coloured you must wear a BLACK t-shirt.  Each child will receive a colourful pair of sunglasses and headband on the day. Parents are more then welcome to come and watch or wear white yourself and join in on the fun! The run will conclude at 3:15pm and each child will be given a zooper dooper.

We are also very excited for the end of year Christmas Carols on Friday the 8th of December with some fun activities organised.

We’re looking forward to finishing off the year with some great events.

Scholastic Book Club - Last one for 2023!

Brochures for our final Book Club of the year have been sent home.  The last date to order is Friday 25th November.  We ask that all orders are made online.

Christmas Family Fun Task

Merry Christmas Family Fun Activity

For the next few weeks of term we are asking families to create their own Christmas tree to decorate our school.

Because Christmas is the holiday that celebrates the birth of Christ, as a light in the dark world, the lit tree became a reminder of that light. The Christmas tree also represents the Tree of Life, commonly recognised as the most important tree in the garden of Eden.

The artwork can be a picture, painting or a sculpture (Three dimensional tree that stands alone). The materials you use can’t be purchased, you may however beg, steal (as long as you ask) or borrow the materials you need. You can use things you already have at home. The Christmas Trees are due the week beginning Monday 27th of November. This is so that all the trees can be displayed during the final days of term. All trees will need to be taken home by the children during the last few days of term, week 11.

Task rules

  • One Tree per family.
  • Recycled materials to be used.
  • The Christmas Tree can be any height/width of up to a maximum of 1 Metre. (remember you have to transport it to and from school)
  • 2D Tree images should be a maximum size A2 this is 420 x 594mm

Enjoy making your Christmas tree, we can’t wait to make St Brigid’s sparkle ready for Christmas.
