  1. Tell us a little about your life outside of school? Eg. Family, hobbies. Passions

I live with my Mum, Dad and my 11-year-old brother Luca. I have a strong connection with my family and they are my biggest supporters. Outside of school, I enjoy listening to music, watching movies, going out with friends and hanging out with my little brother. I love dancing and did it for 12 years of my life. I am a Psychology enthusiast, as I have a passion for helping others and learning to better understand people.

2. What do you like most about being a student at Marian College?

Being a student at Marian College has enabled me to find focus and motivation to fulfill my potential, due to the supportive and caring network of staff and students. The passionate staff of Marian have been crucial towards my academic and personal development; offering insightful advice and supporting me along my learning journey. I have also made some wonderful friendships and connections with students. It means a lot to me that I can always turn to someone for assistance, genuine conversations, or simply just for a laugh. I am also very honoured to be the Lamp Bearer for 2024 which is a role that allows me to work in collaboration with staff and students, towards a common goal, to strengthen the community here at Marian.

3. Who inspires you & why?

Two important women inspire me daily. My mum and grandmother. Firstly, there’s my mum, who is my biggest supporter and yet my biggest critic. She always encourages me to try my best and reach for my fullest potential. Her patience, support, strong work ethic and encouragement have inspired me to become the student and person I am today. Without her, I wouldn't have been as driven and motivated to do well in school and beyond. Then there’s my grandmother, who is so caring and thoughtful and always brings a smile to my face. She has inspired me ever since I was a little girl and has helped shape me to be the person I am today. She has taught me putting others first and about the importance of standing up for what you believe in.

4. What are the biggest challenges facing teenage girls today?

The biggest challenges facing teenage girls today are associated with societal factors and individual self-esteem. There is long list of boxes that girls feel that they need check off to stay in trend and meet societal expectations. Many girls battle to believe in their own abilities and be their true authentic self, which in result ruins their view on themselves. It is crucial in times like this to take time for self-growth and pursing continual improvement in order to strengthen one’s health and wellbeing.
