The sun cast a golden glow on a day filled with high spirits and palpable excitement as students from Clayfield College, Ipswich Junior Grammar, and Moreton Bay Boys' College converged for the highly anticipated Britton Shield Aquathlon event. The picturesque backdrop of Clayfield College set the scene for a day that not only celebrated healthy competition but also the values of camaraderie and sportsmanship.

 

The Britton Shield Aquathlon is an annual event that unites students ranging from Year 2 to 6 in a distinctive sporting challenge. This multifaceted event combines two fundamental disciplines: running and swimming. The day commenced with a skills clinic and a thorough course familiarisation, setting the stage for a day of thrilling competition.

 

Participants exuded remarkable enthusiasm as they embarked on the gruelling run-swim-run sequence. The cheers and unwavering support from the sidelines echoed through the atmosphere as teammates supported one another, painting a heartwarming display of sportsmanship.

 

There was a significant increase in participation. The dedication and commitment of our boys throughout their training season paid off in remarkable results, showcasing their impressive achievements.

Clayfield College's First Team Triumphs in QGSSSA Gala AFL Competition

Clayfield College recently marked a significant milestone by entering their first team into the QGSSSA Junior Gala AFL competition. The team is composed of students from Years 7 to 9, and made an impressive debut in the competition, securing two wins in the opening round.

 

The decision to form an AFL team at Clayfield College was a step toward broadening the horizons of the students and providing them with a platform to engage in a popular and challenging sport.

 

The team, bursting with youthful energy and enthusiasm, embraced the challenges of the competition. Their early success can be attributed to their hard work and the guidance of their new coach. 

 

One of the key highlights was the team's appearance on the field. Decked out in their new AFL kits, the players looked the part, exuding confidence and pride in representing their school. 

 

In the first round of the QGSSSA Gala AFL competition, the Junior team demonstrated their ability on the field. Their performances were nothing short of exemplary, as they clinched two victories, setting a promising tone for the rest of the season.
