Grade 6 Community News

It has been a busy couple of weeks as we speed towards the end Year 6. We have started rehearsing for our Graduation, and are busy collecting memories for our scrapbooks.

In Reading, we have just started a new unit about the French Revolution and Romanticism. Students have also been reflecting on their prior knowledge of The Enlightenment to help their understanding, whilst also engaging with the Big Questions posed to them each lesson. They have also been expanding on their note taking skills.

In Writing, we are continuing to work collaboratively on our scrapbooks. Students have completed a piece on ‘If I were Prime Minister’ for Grade 4. For our Grade 5 piece, the students have been focusing on letter writing. We encourage students to continue adding

photos, certificates, and awards for their scrapbooks.

In Maths, we are completing our unit on Mass and Capacity. Students have been working on converting metric units and making predictions. Students have also worked out what unit of mass they should use for a particular object. We finished our unit by designing a water park and calculating the capacity of water contained in each ride.

  • Don’t forget that Term 4 means ‘No Hat – No Outside Play’. In addition, it is very important that each student has a water bottle with them at school.
  • Please keep collecting pictures and certificates that can used to add to your scrapbook.
  • A final reminder for Graduation, if you have not completed the google form sent to you, please do so by this week as we need to finalise numbers.
