Focus on Learning

Stage 1

We have had a fantastic start to Term 4.

In Literacy we have been reading two books that focus on using Auslan and Braille to support people who are deaf and blind.

In maths we have been focusing on Mass and using equal arm balances and starting this   week we are focusing on addition and subtraction.

We also created some beautiful artwork in response to Giraffes Can't Dance.

Coolamon Challenge - Week 3

Congratulations to our winners from Week 2 - Priscilla and Dani !  They received a voucher for a complimentary ice-cream courtesy of The Coolamon in Quirindi.

This week's challenges are maths based.  Good luck!

Nature Ninjas - our gardening club

Our Nature Ninjas have already been hard at work this term, planning an array of projects for our school garden areas.  In the next fortnight, we will be focusing on germinating a variety of seeds to add into our garden.  We are hoping to propagate tomatoes, radish, strawberries, zucchini and cucumber.

The Nature Ninjas have begun working on the revitalisation of the Wellness Garden.  We have pulled out some of the older plants, to allow space for planting strawberries and perennial flowers.

Chicken Update

Our chickens are settling into their new home.  Our chickens now have names: Cocoa, Marshmallow, Maple and Milo.  We have been working hard on feeding, collecting eggs and making sure their water is always full, especially with the hot weather!

Our eggs have now been placed in the incubator.  These eggs will be incubated for around 21 days until they hatch.  Today is Day 13 out of 21 for our eggs.  At this stage, the chicks have begun to form inside the eggs.  Below is a video of the eggs being 'candled' - a bright torch shines on them in a dark room, and we are able to see veins and the beginning stages of a chick!
