The parade should conclude before 11:00 am. Students are encouraged to create and bring an Easter hat from home, and should come dressed in mufti clothes on the day. No donation is required.
Attendance reminder
Parents and carers play an important role in supporting regular school attendance. Attending school every day, arriving on time, and keeping the school informed about absences all help support student wellbeing and learning.
Parents and carers are asked to:
- enrol their child in school once they reach compulsory school age
- ensure their child attends school every day and arrives on time
- provide an explanation for any absence within 7 days via note, phone, email, Seesaw or in person
- provide a medical certificate, where possible, for absences of 3 or more consecutive days
- provide a verbal or written explanation for late arrivals - these are recorded as partial absences
- sign their child in at the office if arriving after 9:00 am
- sign their child out at the office before 3:00 pm if leaving early, and provide a reason - this is also recorded as a partial absence
- note that there is no playground supervision before 8:30 am
- avoid travel during school term where possible.
Parent - Teacher Interviews (Term 2, Week 11)
- Parent - Teacher interviews will take place in Week 11 of Term 2, following the distribution of student reports.
- These interviews provide an opportunity for parents and teachers to discuss student progress and learning goals in a one-on-one setting.
- Students are not required to attend.
- Each class will have a dedicated date during Week 11, beginning at 11:30 am.
- Teachers may also offer additional interview times across the week where possible.

School Car Parks - Safety reminder
To support the safety of all students and families, parents and carers are reminded that the school car parks are not to be used before or after school, including driving into or walking through the car parks (with or without children).
The car parks are reserved for staff and authorised users only.
If a parent/carer enters a school car park at these times:
- Vehicles will be asked to move and use public parking.
Pedestrians will be asked to leave the car park area and use the designated pedestrian gates and pathways.
Thank you for your understanding and support in keeping our school community safe.
Hurstville Public School – 150 Year Celebrations (1876–2026)
In 2026, Hurstville Public School will celebrate 150 years. Planning is underway for a year of community events and legacy projects that recognise our history and strengthen connections across past and present students, families and staff.
If you are a past student, past staff member, or part of a current or former HPS family and would like to be involved - or if you have stories, photos, memorabilia or artefacts to share - we would love to hear from you.
Please email the school via the office (or contact Mr Renshaw) to express interest and we’ll be in touch with next steps and opportunities to contribute.
Toyota Dream Car Competition
We are proud to share that three Hurstville Public School students have been recognised in the Toyota Dream Competition under the Dealer’s Choice category.
Congratulations to winners:
- 1st Place - Ella S (2A)
- 2nd Place - Kelly D (5D)
3rd Place - David F (3D)
Their artwork was selected for its creativity and quality, and we are very proud of their achievement.
We thank Ferguson Toyota for recognising our students’ efforts and supporting this opportunity. The students will receive their certificates and prizes at our school assembly.
Congratulations again to Ella, Kelly and David on this wonderful achievement.
School Uniform – Hats and Shoes
At Hurstville Public School, we ask for your support to ensure students are in full school uniform each day. Wearing uniform helps build a strong sense of belonging, keeps students safe and shows pride in our school.
Hats
- Students are required to wear the Hurstville school hat (blue cap or blue bucket hat with logo, or Year 6 black cap) whenever they are outdoors.
- Our “No hat – play in the shade” rule applies at all times.
Branded or patterned hats that are not part of the school uniform should not be worn.
Shoes
- Students should wear black, closed-in school shoes each day (except sport days).
- On sport days, students may wear white or black joggers as part of the sports uniform.
Coloured or fluoro sneakers are not part of our school uniform.
If you are unsure about any aspect of the uniform or need assistance to purchase items, please contact the school office – we are here to help.
