Intermediate Volleyball - 17 Feb

The Boys A team played with great heart, winning 2 games comfortably, going down to the eventual winners, Blackburn. We had two players who played at an elite level - Charlie and Koby being our MVPs. Our B and C teams also played their hearts out and had a great day as well. It was an enjoyable day and everyone had a great time playing with each other.
The Girls A team fell just short in the opening game against a spirited Blackburn. We rallied together to shut out Koonung 2-0 and kept that same energy alive to take down EDSC with another 2-0 win. Bernice Y and Yu L-H shone, claiming our MVPs for the day. Our B and C teams fought hard and impressed with some classy wins, only losing a combined 3 games from the 9 games played. It was a tense last half an hour as the judges tallied up the scores, until finally it was revealed that the Girls A team had made it through to the next round. Congratulations girls on a well deserved tournament win, good luck at Regionals!!
Intermediate Tennis – 20 Feb

The Boys' team had an exceptional day, making it through to regionals due to clutch games and a solid performance. The 3 schools we had to play against were: Blackburn, Koonung, and EDSC. Against Blackburn our guys won by a point, winning half of the matches but winning one single more game overall.
Against Koonung we won a fairly easy match, only dropping one set, and against EDSC, arguably the strongest team, we played critical tennis to sail through to the next division. Overall the boys played well and deserve the spot in regionals.
The Intermediate Girls team proudly represented Box Hill High School at interschool tennis by demonstrating incredible teamwork, sportsmanship and dedication throughout the whole day. As the sole team entered in their division this year, they have secured a place in the Regional Championships.
Match 1: Girls vs East Doncaster Boys B team
The Girls started off strong by playing aggressively against EDSC’s boys team. Seyun dominated her opponent, beating him 4-0, and similarly Aashi did so too during her doubles match. In the end, the match scores were level at 3-3 which was an incredible start to the day.
Match 2: Girls vs Koonung Boys B team
We started this round by playing doubles first which put us at an advantage since the girls played and worked so well together. Since they were guaranteed a spot in the Regional Championships by default, they played a relaxed and well executed match. Allisia and Clarissa both played incredibly well, keeping their play consistent and precise!
Well done to Seyun, Aashi, Allisia and Clarrissa for making it to the intermediate girls tennis Regional Championships!
Intermediate Boys Cricket - 20 Feb

We had a fantastic day at Intermediate Boys Cricket, showing great teamwork and determination in both games especially game 2 which showed heaps of improvement from the boys.
Match 1: vs Blackburn
Blackburn batted first and made 122. Our bowlers bowled well, with Ari taking the only wicket. In reply, we chased the total down in the final over, finishing on 125. Ari top scored with 33 not out, while Jiaan finished on 20 helping along the way. A strong batting performance got us over the line.
Grand Final: vs East Doncaster
In the Grand Final we kept East Doncaster to just 106, with a great bowling performance and huge fielding improvement from the boys. Everyone bowled much better and fielded much better saving many boundaries and taking many catches. Chasing 106, we chased it down in the last over, with Ari top scoring again on 33 and Jiaan making 25, and Jai scoring 24. Everyone was able to contribute towards this win to progress through to the next round.
Well done to all the Boys on another great year of Interschool Cricket and good luck for Regionals.
Intermediate Girls Cricket – 20 Feb

We had a fantastic day at Intermediate Girls Cricket, showing great teamwork and determination in both games.
Match 1: vs Blackburn
Blackburn batted first and made 56. Our bowlers were outstanding, with Ruby and Emma R taking 2 wickets each, and Jess M contributing with 2 great catches in the field. In reply, we chased the total down, finishing on 59. Sienna top-scored with a brilliant 21, well supported by Georgia W with 14. A strong all-round performance secured the win.
Grand Final: vs Koonung
In the Grand Final, we restricted Koonung to 67, despite their best player smashing 26 off just 3 overs. Everyone bowled really well and worked hard in the field. Chasing 68, we finished on 46, with Georgia hitting the first boundary of the day. Although we fell short, it was a great effort by everyone and a fantastic team performance to be proud of. Well done to all the girls on a great day of cricket! 🏏
Intermediate Boys Baseball - 17 Feb

The Intermediate Boys Baseball team put together a fantastic performance at their recent round robin, finishing with two wins from three competitive games. The boys defeated Blackburn 12–5 and East Doncaster 8–2, with their only loss coming in a hard-fought 8–5 match against Koonung.
Throughout the day, the team’s encouragement and positivity stood out, with every player contributing to a supportive and determined atmosphere. Gus, Ari, Aarnav, Arin and Joel led the way on the mound with strong pitching efforts, while Ben and Jiaan were dependable behind the plate. The team impressed with confident hitting and smart base running, highlighted by Joel’s powerful home run against East Doncaster and a superb outfield catch by Kingston that was a real game-changing moment. Congratulations to all players on a great day of teamwork and effort!
Boys Senior Cricket - 26 Feb
The Boys Senior Cricket team fought tooth and nail throughout the day, with some tight bowling and impressive hitting, they truly demonstrated the Box Hill spirit. Game 1 was against Blackburn High. After an incredible start taking 4 early wickets, we let Blackburn get away from us giving us a total of 83 to chase. Some resilient batting from Tim E and Kanishk G gave us the best chance to win, however fell 3 runs short in the final over.
Game 2 was against the dangerous Koonung. The boys showed just how good they can be, with some economical bowling from Flynn D, Kanishk G and Ryan W. We were able to restrict Koonung to 63. A comfortable run chase in the end saw us into the grand final facing Blackburn again.
The grand final began extremely well with our bowlers again coming out on top, restricting Blackburn to 61. Opening was Krish N and Kanishk G, who provided a good platform being 0/11 off 2 overs. Flynn D then proceeded to clear the fence a few times before being caught in the deep. Needing 40 from the last 6 overs, the boys unfortunately couldn’t get the job done, finishing all out for 46. It was a disappointing end to a promising day, but the boys fought hard till the end and showed plenty of good character and spirit.
Division Swimming - 2 March

We had a group of approximately 30 students represent BHHS at the Division Swimming Carnival, held at Aquarena Aquatic & Leisure Centre in Doncaster. Although the weather was humid and the rain stayed for most of the day, it did not deter our students from putting in their best efforts in the pool, with some producing some outstanding results!
We had four 'Age-Group Champions' crowned on the day, with Iris M (Yr 10) & Nick C (Yr 10) taking out the 16 Yr Old Female & Male titles respectively, and Matilda B (Yr 12) & Bailey D (Yr 11) taking our the 17 Yr Old Female & Male titles respectively. We also saw our 17 Yr Old Female 4 x 50m Freestyle Relay team break the previous Whitehorse Division record by 2.5 seconds, winning their race in a super tight finish by 0.19 seconds!!
Overall, our school finished in second place on points totalled for the day, with East Doncaster SC winning the day overall on points accumulated through the day's events, and Blackburn HS finishing very close behind us in third place.
Congratulations to all our swimmers for their fantastic attitudes and efforts, and we wish the following students, who were successful in their race/s to progress through to the Eastern Metropolitan Region Finals (30 March), all the very best: Matilda B (Yr 12), Bailey D (Yr 11), Nick C (Yr 10), Darcy L (Yr 10), Iris M (Yr 10), Zi L (Yr 9), Ethan S (Yr 9), Jayden Y (Yr 9) & Xier L (Yr 7).
Special thanks to Mr Dobson, Ms Sheedy & Hudson Findlay for their expert assistance on the day!
Senior Tennis - 3 March

We went out as a squad of 13. The Boys A team started off strong defeating Blackburn High School, demonstrating precision hitting and an excellent temperament when the pressure came. Luca C-S, Geordie C, Jay C and Reyansh G all worked in unison in each of their respective doubles games demonstrating teamwork and communication.
Match 2, 3 and 4 against East Doncaster, Koonung and Box Hill Senior proved to be a struggle, with the boys struggling to find their feet against the power hitting of their opposition. They performed valiantly, taking a few games off their opponents and at times putting the pressure back on them, but unfortunately their oppositions class came through and resulted in a fourth place finish. The boys showed true spirit, determination and grit through the day and should hold their head high.
The girls were up against it all day, with some having never played tennis before. But you couldn’t tell from the enthusiamium and fight from the girls (highlighted by Emma R's resolve to play the entire day with her non–dominant hand due to her preferred hand being in a cast). Justine H and Emma R were able win a few games. Paradise S N, Lynn M and Kylie C all respresneted the Box Hill values, showing sportsmentship and fight even when their opponents were a touch classier in their tennis abilities.
All in all, it was a day full of laughs, smiles and a will to still be the best the students can be, with a lot of the students never having played tennis before.
Senior Netball - 3 March

Forty-five students attended the Maroondah Nets in Heathmont on Tuesday 3 March to battle it out on the netball court. The boys were represented in the A and B section with the B team undefeated in all three of their matches. The A team played competitively all day but lost to Blackburn in the final match of the day.
The girls who were represented in all three sections showed incredible team spirit and perseverance throughout the day. The A team, who won all three of their matches, successfully moved on to the next round after a four goal win in their final game against Blackburn. The B team, despite experiencing a number of injuries throughout the day demonstrated incredible comradery on the court, chasing down each ball and cheering each other on in every single match. And the C team who took to their first match smiling, laughing and ready for a fun day of netball, finished the day in the same way.
House Golf – 13 March

In a school first, 25 students and 3 staff went out on House Golf at Wattle Park Golf Course. Students got to learn how to conduct themselves with the proper golf etiquette as it was an afternoon of fun, laughs and friendly competition between the year levels and different houses.
Blackburn took out the inaugural House Golf trophy shooting a combined 33 over par, led by Tim Snow shooting an incredible 5 over par (he told us to put this in!). For the students it was Joel S who led the way shooting 9 over and demonstrating control and poise whilst putting. Taking out the Middle School Championship was a tie between Bowen T and Marcus Z, both of whom impressed with accuracy, shooting 10 over par. Bowen also producing a birdie on hole 3 (par 4, 210m), was an excellent highlight of the day.
Taking out the Junior School Championship was Callum H who shot 15 over par. Callum also had a birdie on hole 6 (par 4, 215m). The highlight of the day was in the last group on the last hole - Justin H had a chip in for par from 30 metres out, hitting his sand wedge beautifully. As it rolled towards the hole, the anticipation grew and in front of all the other students who had finished before Justin’s group, the ball dropped in the cup and the crowd exploded.
Some other notable highlights were Ryder J F taking out the longest drive of the day on hole 2 reaching an astonishing 227m on the fairway as well as Troy D winning the closest to the pin competition, landing it 5 metres away off the tee box on hole 9.
Overall it was a great day and a huge appetite for more House Golf is growing amongst the students. Congratulations to all.
Senior Boys Baseball - 17 March

Ten senior boys attended baseball, all brimming with anticipation. The day started off competing against Blackburn and already it was evident that some of our opposition had a baseball background. Some fast and accurate pitching from Brian G kept us in the hunt but unfortunately the boys struggled to compete against the class of the opponents, losing 10-0.
Our second match against East Doncaster was a much better outing. With some accurate pitching from all who pitched (Tim E, Justin H, Kanisk G and Ryan W), all getting a few of their stronger opponents out. Towards the middle of the match, Brian G stepped up to the plate, hit a nice line drive for a single, then proceeded to steal base 2 and 3, eventually reaching home plate for our first and only run for the day.
Whilst the results did not fall our way, it did not sway from the enjoyment and tenacity of the students who were all up for the fight.
Senior Volleyball - 17 March

Our senior volleyball teams recently attended Maroondah Nets sporting facility to compete in the annual Whitehorse Schools Division Senior Volleyball Competition. The groups showed spirit and a great deal of hear tin their play, as well as showcasing skill, determination, and outstanding teamwork against some of the division’s strongest contenders.
Competing against a talented field of senior teams, both the boys’ and girls’ squads represented the school with pride. From the opening matches, BHHS set the tone with disciplined serving, sharp defensive coverage, and well-coordinated attacking plays. Their ability to remain composed under pressure proved crucial throughout the day.
The boys’ team demonstrated resilience, battling through several tightly contested sets. Their communication on court and strategic playmaking allowed them to stay competitive in key moments, even against strong opposition.
Equally, the girls’ team displayed consistency and cohesion. Strong net presence, accurate passing, and confident attacking kept their opponents challenged, with teamwork and positive energy evident in every match.
While the group came away with only a few wins on the day, the real victories happened off the court. The competition highlighted the sportsmanship, teamwork, and school spirit that define Box Hill High School. Players supported one another throughout, built stronger connections as a team, and represented the school community with pride and respect.
The Whitehorse Division tournament proved to be a valuable experience for all involved, offering an opportunity to develop skills, build confidence, and grow both individually and as a team.
Box Hill High School congratulates all players for their effort and commitment, and looks forward to continued growth and success in future sporting events.
