From the

Head of  Senior School

As we reach Week 8 and the final newsletter for Term 1, it is an opportune time to reflect on what has been a busy, productive, and positive start to the year in the Senior School. It has been wonderful to see students settle into their courses, establish routines, and engage with both the academic and co-curricular life of the school.

This week is particularly significant for our Year 12 students as they undertake their Assessment Week. This marks an important point in their HSC journey and provides an opportunity for students to demonstrate their learning and commitment. As they complete their assessments, I encourage them to maintain balance, ensuring they prioritise both preparation and wellbeing.

Our Year 11 students have also made a strong start to their senior studies. The transition into the demands of Preliminary courses can be challenging, and it has been pleasing to see many students developing effective study habits and organisational skills. Building these foundations early will set them up for continued success.

Students in Years 7 and 9 successfully completed NAPLAN. I would like to acknowledge the calm and focused manner in which students approached these assessments, as well as the support provided by staff to ensure the process ran smoothly.

We have also celebrated the conclusion of the ISA Summer Sport season. It has been fantastic to see such strong participation, commitment, and sportsmanship across all teams. Representing the school in this way requires dedication and teamwork, and our students should be proud of their efforts and achievements throughout the season.

Across the Senior School, I have been consistently impressed by the way students have approached their learning and contributed to the broader school community. Respect, responsibility, and a commitment to personal growth remain central to our expectations, and it has been encouraging to see these values demonstrated in both classrooms and shared spaces.

As we look ahead to the final days of term and into Week 9, we look forward to important community events including the Cross Country and our Easter Service. These occasions provide valuable opportunities for connection, reflection, and celebration as a school community.

As we approach Easter, we are reminded of a message of hope and renewal:

“He is not here; he has risen, just as he said.” — Matthew 28:6

This verse speaks to new beginnings, resilience, and the enduring power of hope - values we continue to nurture within our students each day.

I would like to thank our dedicated staff for their ongoing commitment to supporting our students, and our families for your partnership throughout the term. Your support plays a vital role in the success and wellbeing of our young people.

I wish all members of our community a safe and restful break and look forward to welcoming everyone back for Term 2.
