Music

What an exciting Term Two it has been thus far! The much-anticipated relocation to our permanent home in G Block has finally taken place, and we are now settled and ready for music making at the start of Week 5. I extend my sincere gratitude to all students and staff members who generously donated their time and assisted with the move.

Throughout our Music Performance sessions, students have been diligently honing their Instrumental Music skills. They have been focusing on developing Coordination and Fine Motor Skills, Self-Discipline, Teamwork, as well as Self-Expression and Self-Esteem.

Currently, students are diligently preparing to record or perform their chosen songs as part of their Key Learning Tasks (KLT). Here are the songs each class is working on:

  • 7A: "Scars To Your Beautiful" by Alessia Cara
  • 7B: "Somebody To You" by The Vamps
  • 7C: "Sorry" by Justin Bieber

Furthermore, students have commenced their Electronic Computer Music Compositions for their KLT. Through this project, they are showcasing specific musical criteria and compositional concepts using computer-generated music.

In Week 4, students completed their Critical Listening KLT, which required them to identify, describe, and analyse various qualities of sound and features of music styles.

Meanwhile, our 7D Student Extension and Enrichment (SEE) Music students are immersed in their Virtual DJ Project. They are refining their professional DJ skills and learning how to curate an engaging setlist. Students are meticulously developing their setlists, ensuring smooth transitions between each song by planning music cues and time codes.

Additionally, Music Club continues to be a highlight during lunchtimes throughout Term Two. It serves as a space for students to connect with music, foster a sense of belonging, and enjoy the company of like-minded peers. Everyone is welcome to join, play musical instruments, and socialise with other music enthusiasts.

We are thrilled with the progress and enthusiasm shown by our students in embracing the musical opportunities available at our school. Let's continue to foster a vibrant and inclusive music community together!

Happy music-making!
