Food Technology

In Food Technology this term, students have been learning about and implementing their newfound skills and culinary knowledge. The rest of the school certainly knows when it is a cooking day with the wonderful aromas wafting down the corridors.

Students have been working through their KLT and designing their own Pizza. Students have been challenged to design a well-rounded pizza with a variety of vegetables and meats of their choosing. We have had some very interesting choices of pizza but they have been quite a success. The students have made and cooked their pizzas from base to toppings with very mouth-watering results.

Woodwork

In Woodwork, students have been learning about different tools and their correct applications. Students have then been putting into practice what they have learnt in the woodwork room. The students first project was to create their own name plate. Students had to draw and cut out wooden letters and then apply to a wooden backing. The students then painted their creations to finish them off.

The students second project has been to design and create their own mobile phone stand. The students have been given creative freedom and either given a prototype to follow or design their own using a variety of tools and techniques. We have some budding carpenters and designers at Yarrabing and all students are enjoying doing things they may never have done before.
