Konnichiwa, hello,
We have been learning about Children’s Day. This significant event is always celebrated on the 5th of May and is a public holiday in Japan. It is a day when parents wish their children to grow up healthy, strong and brave. 2 things that symbolize Children’s Day are the Samurai helmet and Koi fish. They are symbolic because they represent strength and bravery.
Congratulations to James Lloyd, 5/6F for achieving the Green Belt. To achieve this, James was able to recognize all 46 hiragana characters with confidence. Well done, James.
The Foundation students are learning some of the words of the week, colours and numbers. I continue to be amazed how enthusiastic the students are to learn something new.
Students in 1/2 are learning to introduce themselves in Japanese. We are also reading a bilingual story called ‘We went to Tokyo’.

In 3/4, the focus is learning about Japan. Students completed a Japanese fact hunt, made a poster about Japan and looked at some geographical features of Japan.
The 5/6’s are focusing on improving their understanding of the hiragana alphabet. There is a lot of enthusiasm to achieve the next Hiragana Karate Belt. Keep up the great work.
