Year 7 to 9

Year 9 City Experience

Students embarked on the first wave of City Experience on Monday 29 April 2024. Students were responsible for making their way to and from the city each day, for a whole week, whilst navigating to different cultural and educational sites of significance within the CBD.

The week kicked off with a smoke ceremony, a traditional welcome to country from an indigenous elder. Then students participated in ‘The EDSC Amazing Race’ which took them on a journey to visit several landmarks within the CBD and collect evidence as quickly as possible, before finishing at Federation Square. Congratulations to Group 9B2 who won the event.  Each student in the group took home a $30 Gift Voucher to spend on items of their choice from a variety of stores.

Overall, the students and staff all had a great time, with lots of positive feedback from service providers, regarding the curiosity students displayed through their inquisitive questioning and their respectful attitudes and behaviour.

We look forward to Monday 13 May when the second half of Year 9 embark on their experience and hope they can meet the high standards set by group 1.

ANZAC Day/Values Assemblies

Assemblies were held on Wednesday 24 April 2024 for all year levels to commemorate and celebrate the spirit of the ANZAC’s and to acknowledge the sacrifice they made so that we can enjoy the lifestyle we do today. The assemblies paid homage to all servicemen and women and this was also supported by a stirring speech, by our Middle School Captains, who also ran each assembly. A big thanks to Sienna, Ethan, Elana and Aiden for their preparation and performance during these assemblies. This is not an easy task in front of one year level, let alone two. Also, the combined vocal group did an outstanding job singing Advance Australia Fair and Here we Lie. Well done to all involved.

The values component of the assemblies took place after the ANZAC acknowledgement. See list of Values Award winners below.
