Level 3 Podcasting - Miss Natasha Margelis

This term in Podcasting Innovation students in year 3 will be learning the understanding on what a podcast is and how it differs from other forms of media. Students will be focusing on how to plan and create their own podcast episodes by exploring different elements of a podcast, focusing on proficiency in recognising effective audio practice. Podcast innovators will have opportunity to develop their skills in scripting, speaking and teamwork as well as allowing students to understand the technical aspects of recording and editing audio, effectively use audio recording/editing software. Students will have opportunities to create individual as well as group podcasts, sharing educational and entertaining content for the GWPS community.

In term 2 Radio Committee students will be working on paired radio shows, where they collaborate with peers to create an educational and engaging radio broadcast for the GWPS school community. Students will be encouraged to explore different types of radio programming, and the purpose of radio programs. Students will develop skills in scriptwriting, speaking, teamwork and understanding the technical aspects of recording and editing audio. Continuing to develop understanding in the history and significance of radio as a form of communication, actively identify key components and purposes of a radio broadcast.

Level 6 Film/Drama - Mr Daniel Addison

In Term 2, Filming and Drama students will learn all the different elements to film production. They will further develop their skills in performing in front of a camera through a range of drama games and acting techniques. For example; how my character’s personality influences the way they talk, move and interact. They will explore script writing and how it differs from other forms of writing and will learn about how location scouts find the best settings to perform their scenes. Students will also explore camera techniques, sound production and   prop/costume design and how all of these choices contribute to the quality of the overall production. Students will get the opportunity to use the green screen and the editing suites as they create work.

 

Level 5 Animation - Mr Daniel Addison

In Term 2 Animation, Students will explore the 12 Principles of Animation. They will get opportunities to create short animations as they learn each of these principles and why they are used. For example, the squash and stretch technique is applied to give a sense of weight or flexibility to objects such as a bouncing ball. They will apply these skills in three ways. They will apply free-hand drawing to create flipbooks. They will digitally create pieces through FlipaClip and Flip Studio which will allow them to manipulate the speed of their work. They will also explore animation through photography and real life objects by using Stop Motion to make fixed objects used. We will also explore the important art of story telling in animation.

 

Level 1 & 2 Gaming 
In Year 1 & 2 Gaming in Term 2, the students explore how games help us learn as well as being an avenue of pleasure. They will unpack the various elements of a game starting with tabletop games such as board and card games. They will discuss the themes, skills, directions and materials needed in a game and create their own based on their favourite games. They will also explore the skills learnt and needed when gaming online. We will explore how to safely access video games and how they are created. Students will learn basic coding to create simple online games.
