Farewell Marcia Claringbold
After a career spanning 43 years at MESC, we farewell one of our most loved staff members, Marcia Claringbold. And what better way than with a 'garden party' !
It was also a special moment when a new Year 12 Award was announced at the Valedictory Dinner - "Marcia Claringbold Award". Marcia will be sorely missed as a devoted, conscientious, professional and highly respected teacher and we wish her well in retirement.
"What a journey I have had at Mountie! I arrived to take Ros William's maternity leave in September 1981 and now, 43 years later, am finally leaving the classrooms. This has been a wonderful community to be a part of and I am so lucky to have so many professional opportunities across those years both in and out of the classroom. I have taught across a number of domains including Phys Ed, Outdoor Ed, Health, English, Food Technology, Design Tech and textiles and in every one have been so inspired by the wonderful kids I have had the pleasure to work with and so proud of our results.
For many years I took amazing kids to sporting events locally and across the state and was always so proud of what they achieved and how they represented our College. Rock Eisteddfod and Aerobics hold special places in my heart as do the students who lived their, and our, dreams in these activities. So many memories of leotards, sequins, music and motels across the States and of course all with my "bestie" Ros Williams. We had so much fun and I know our kids did too.
I have also been a part of our College Council for many years and along with this and working bees, sewing bees and set building days, have had the pleasure of working with so many wonderful parents who have helped their kids get the best from their school years. It has been so lovely to be part of this wider community and I have appreciated the unwavering support I have been given.
Across my time here there have been so many changes both to education and to the school, but what has remained constant is the love and support I have had from both my colleagues and students as well as so many in the wider community. I don't remember all we said and did, but I know I will never forget how we worked together and how I have felt over all these years. I have had wonderful travelling companions with hundreds of dedicated staff and feel so grateful for their leadership, support and friendship.
It is wonderful to see ex-students in all walks of life and know that at some stage we worked together and achieved so much.
Whilst I am saying goodbye to the classroom and kids, my beloved Kimmuli team and homework, I know a part of my heart will remain at the College and my hands will continue to nurture the gardens . Thanks for the memories and see you in the garden sometime."
