As we approach the close of 2024, I want to take a moment to reflect on the many milestones we’ve accomplished as a school community and share our excitement for the future.

This year has been filled with incredible achievements, both in and out of the classroom. We’ve witnessed our students demonstrate outstanding perseverance, creativity, and kindness. Whether it’s through academic excellence, artistic expression, or athletic performance, each one of our students has contributed to making this year memorable.

I would like to extend my deepest thanks to our dedicated teachers, es staff, and volunteers. Their hard work, passion, and commitment to student success have made this year truly special. Every success we’ve achieved is a direct result of their tireless efforts to create a nurturing and challenging environment for our students to be HAPPY, SMART and PREPARED.

I would like to acknowledge our Family and Friends. There are a core group of families that spend time throughout the year to run events to raise money for enhancements around our college. This year money raised has gone to the seating at the front of the school, installation of our refurbished ANZAC memorial and outdoor seating and umbrellas for the QUAD.

To our class of 2024, all I want is for you to take opportunities that allow you to be the BEST version of yourself. We look forward to hearing what you choose to study, where you are working, what career you have entered or where on the planet you are travelling to! I hope you are leaving us Educated for Excellence and Prepared for Life; for whatever life brings your way. Thank you to Lily and Jasmine for being College Captains this year. It has been a privilege to watch your growth in confidence and contributions to your school and local community.

As we look to the new year, we are excited to continue our journey of growth and improvement. Some upcoming initiatives include:

  • Learning: Continue to focus on READY TO LEARN! Having clear expectations of students, families and staff to ensure we are creating an environment to give students the best opportunities for successful outcomes and growth. Victorian Curriculum 2.0 will be rolled out in Maths and English in 2025. We will be focusing on academic growth, utilising external data sets and teacher judgements to guide student reflection and motivation.
  • Focus on Well-being: In 2025 we will be working with students to improve connectedness and student voice. We will continue to refine wellbeing processes to support students in classrooms- giving them agency and building resilience.
  • Buildings and grounds: Students finally have modern, clean bathrooms to use in years 7, 10,11 and 12. Fingers crossed we see further improvements in other bathrooms across the college soon. In 2025, we will see the beginning of the Science Build, in term 4. Classrooms will be decanted in term 3- it will be a challenging time on site however the insight we have already had into what the space will look like and function is super exciting! We will continue to re develop garden beds and watch out for opportunities to support fundraising for a new shelter in front of the Gym.
  • We turn 50!!: We are in the planning stages of having some fun events to celebrate 50 years of Mount Eliza Secondary College.

Finally, I want to express my deepest gratitude to you, our families, for your continued support. The partnership between school and home is one of the most valuable assets we have, and I am grateful for each of you. Together, we will continue to make Mount Eliza Secondary College a place where students thrive and dreams come true.

Wishing all of our students, families, and staff a safe holiday season. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in 2025 for an exciting new year!

Warm regards,
