CLEVER CLASS

MJR with Marty

It was a real pleasure to work with the Grade 5/6 students recently discussing high school with the Grade 6's and leadership with the Grade 5s. We discussed with the Grade 5s that if they were looking for words and phrases for their leadership speeches, they should look in their MJR workbooks.

The Grade 6's looked at some issues they felt may crop up during the transition from primary to secondary. Some were a little worried /concerned about high school but we discussed that this is normal and that they will be well taken care of by their new schools. We looked at issues such as confidence, no excuses, work ethic and tackling the Orientation Day in December with a positive attitude. Both classes also looked at an acronym BOB (from a podcast called Grow Your Mind) – Being of Benefit to others in the community, home and school and also to ourselves. We even decided to create a BOB or Spirit of Jesus moment/kindness and complete it in the next 24 hours.

The students were amazing with the listening and positive contributions and I have seen so much growth from when I had them in the first term. Please talk to your children about ‘Marty’s MJR session’ and further discuss what they gained from the sessions. The staff at your school and especially, the students’ teachers are so professional and dedicated to letting the students discover their real potentials.  Again, it was exciting to work with the students and the staff of such a beautiful school – I hope the children came home with a change in attitude and/or a willingness to help more – please ask them about the day.

God Bless
