CLEVER CLASS

Last week, our journey into learning about The Nativity story began. Mrs. Lange first introduced the story through Godly Play. Using a script that encouraged wonder and reflection, along with props and a nativity set, we were guided through the narrative in a way that sparked our imaginations and curiosity.

Following the storytelling, we took the excitement into our own hands as we reenacted the nativity story. This hands-on activity not only reinforced our understanding but allowed us to explore different perspectives and characters within the tale.

Mrs. Lange then showed us a delightful video created by last year's prep students, which featured their interpretations of the nativity. As we watched, we engaged in thoughtful reflections, comparing our knowledge with the visual retelling. It was fascinating to see the parts of the story we recognized and to learn more about those we hadn't noticed before.

Our reflective discussions with Mrs. Lange opened us up to deeper thoughts about the nativity. We considered how Mary might have felt when the angels visited and discussed the significance of baby Jesus to the shepherds and kings. These conversations not only deepened our understanding of the story but also enhanced our empathy and emotional connections.

Finally, we expressed our learning through a guided drawing activity. Each of us created a visual representation of the nativity story, ensuring that all the significant parts were depicted.

Throughout our nativity exploration, we engaged with various elements of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) by fostering a sense of community and belonging (EYLF Outcome 1), enhancing our communication skills (EYLF Outcome 5), and nurturing our curiosity and eagerness to learn (EYLF Outcome 4).
