Principal Support Unit  

The Principal Support Unit (PSU) within DE’s Schools Human Resources Division consists of experienced staff with both school and VPS backgrounds providing principals with strategic workforce planning and HR/ER advice and support. The PSU is available for principals to contact directly to confidentially discuss any human resource or industrial agreement implementation issues including potential options to address these issues.

Apart from school visits and the ongoing phone/email/ Webex consultations with principals the Unit responds to requests from principal and assistant collegiate groups/networks to participate in conversations and workshops around a range of HR/ER associated themes including organisational design, people management, workforce planning issues, decision-making, managing consultative processes, implementing the VGSA, and building leadership within schools. 

The PSU also highly recommends that principals and assistant principals investigate the group of modules in the Vic Academy’s “Strategic Management for School Leaders” program and that they look to undertake the ‘Workforce Planning” module which is part of the suite of offerings.
