Welcome Back!
Plenty Parklands is back in full swing, full of energetic students and patient staff after a long summer holiday break. It is great to have our students back, and a special welcome to the fifteen new students joining us from other schools.
We are also excited to welcome our new prep students who have settled in well thanks to our fantastically supportive staff and you as parents who are allowing your children to be as independent as possible (carrying their own bag and entering the corridor without you!)
Enrolment numbers
Our enrolment numbers for 2025 are now confirmed. We have approximately 730 students across 31 classes, at an average of 23.5 per class. At this time last year we had 710 children enrolled. This week we welcomed 97 preps and have 103 year 6 students in our graduating cohort for this year. Currently our smallest class is 19 students, whilst our largest has 26 children.
New Staff for 2025
As mentioned late last year, we have only one new staff member this year. Miss Jasmine Petrovska joins us as a graduate teacher in 4-27. She has settled in well as a positive addition to our experienced team. We have also recently hired two extra casual Education Support staff to support students in our school. More information on these new members will follow soon.
Holiday additions around the school
We again had a busy holiday period, with new carpet installed in four of our classrooms (year 5), painting and carpet upgrades in the Prep Corridor and extensive servicing of our Gym floor and sportsground surface which both look brand new.
Thank you to Mrs Khanna and our head of maintenance Mr Surkitt, who coordinated events through January to ensure we were ready for students returning last week.
Current Events
We have already hosted a successful Prep BBQ and next Friday marks the beginning of Interschool Sports activities with other schools. Coming up very soon on Thursday 20th February we will be celebrating as a community with our Family Fun Night from 4pm to 7pm.
Supporting your child
Remember that if you have any questions or concerns at any time during the year, speak with your child’s teacher first, their Team Leader or the Leading teacher in charge of the junior (Megan Long) or senior (Kristy Caruso) school. Alternatively, our welfare coordinator Diana Mitrevski or Assistant Principal Jenny Loorham are here to assist. All these people are here for you to make contact with personally, by phone or by email. Rather than worry about things, just contact us and we will help. Should that not suffice, I am happy to meet with families for further support if needed.
Looking forward to a wonderful year of development.
