A Message from the Deputy Principals

Year 12 - 2025

Our Year 12 2025 students have made a wonderful start to their final year of school. We began the term with our HSC Information Evening which was well attended by students and parents. This event was a great opportunity to meet informally with teachers and receive information about policies and procedures that relate to both school expectations and the NESA requirements for the Higher School Certificate. Year 12 have adopted a positive approach to the HSC courses and as they have just completed their first assessment period during Weeks 7-9, they have also been making decisions about any adjustments to the HSC pattern of study.

Many of the year group have taken on leadership roles for 2025 with great enthusiasm. This has included the captaincy team who have already stepped forward to host a range of school events and the recently announced House Team captains and vice captains who are looking forward to the opportunity to grow the House Team program. It is exciting to see students embrace these positions to enthusiastically lead their peers.

On Remembrance Day, Bethanie and Will proudly represented our school at the Camden RSL Sub Branch Remembrance Day service at Macarthur Park where they had the honour of participating in the service by doing three of the readings. At the recent Schools Spectacular event  Ruby, Lily, Kaliska, Kimberley, and Ella showed off their amazing dancing talents as combined and featured artists. Elle has worked tirelessly for our school’s own Multicultural Day event by leading her peers and also teaching the Samoan Sasa to a group of students from Spring Farm Public School who were guest performers on the day. These are just a few examples of the commitment students within the year group have to serve the school community and make Elderslie High School a vibrant, thriving and positive place to learn and grow.

Year 11 - 2025

Year 10 have successfully transitioned into their Year 11 classes for 2025. This is an opportunity for students to learn about and experience their subject choices before the courses commence at the beginning of next year. Any students who wish to change a subject can bring a note from their parents and see me before the end of Week 3 in Term 1 next year. Keep in mind that there may not be a lot of space available in courses to make the requested change.

Most students in Year 10 have completed their HSC Minimum Standards Tests in Reading, Writing and Numeracy. Any students who have not met the standards will have multiple opportunities to sit the tests in 2025. All students must pass each of the tests in order to be eligible for the Higher School Certificate.

Students in Year 10 attended their Formal at Camden Lakeside this week. It was a pleasure to see all of our students dressed in formal attire and looking very grown up. This is an invitational event and a reward for the students who followed school expectations in terms of behaviour, attendance, school work completion and willingness to follow school policies. Students and staff thoroughly enjoyed the evening and I would like to thank Mrs Cutajar for her outstanding organisation of this event.

Year 9

As we draw near the end of the school year, we want to take a moment to celebrate the achievements of our Year 9 students. This year has been filled with growth, hard work, and numerous accomplishments that we are proud to highlight. We had a fantastic representation of our science students who attended the CSIRO STEM Showcase at Camden Council Chambers, showcasing their passion and skills in science and technology. Our CAPA students also shone brightly as they represented our school at the Schools Spectacular, demonstrating their talent and creativity. In addition, we proudly recognised our talented athletes at the Macarthur Zone Blues Presentation, where many were acknowledged for their outstanding sporting achievements.

As Year 9 students prepare to transition into Year 10, we encourage you to reflect on these achievements and the growth they signify. The upcoming year promises to offer even more opportunities for exploration and engagement in various subjects and extracurricular activities.

As we wrap up this school year, we wish you and your family a happy and safe holiday season. We hope this time allows for relaxation and quality moments together. We look forward to seeing families at our upcoming Recognition Assembly, where we will celebrate the achievements of our students. Your support and involvement are invaluable to our school community, and we appreciate your continued partnership.

Year 8

Year 8 students have been involved in a wide range of whole school activities throughout Term 4. This has included displaying their musical, creative and dramatic talents at the Year 7 and 8 CAPA evening, participating in the Top Blokes wellbeing program, competing in the under 15s Netball CHSSA State titles, dancing up a storm at School Spectacular, completing their White Card course in preparation for work experience opportunities next year, competing in Mrs Bright’s annual Oz Tag competition and proudly representing their culture through captivating performances on Multicultural Day. It is wonderful to see so many students embracing the opportunities to participate in activities that showcase their passions and interests. These activities help them to develop important life skills, such as teamwork, collaboration and commitment.

As the year comes to a close, the Recognition Assembly held on Thursday 12th December was a celebration of their achievements throughout Semester Two. It was wonderful to see so many students recognised for their success in the classroom, commitment to learning, exemplary attendance and upholding the school's values of being respectful, responsible and reflective learners. Year 8 have had a wonderful term and are looking forward to 2025 where they move into Stage 5 with their curriculum subjects broadening to include their elective choices.

Year 7

All students have now completed their final assessments for the year. Reports will be issued to students on Monday 16th December. Many students will be eligible for awards which they will receive at the upcoming Recognition Assembly and Presentation Evening. I encourage parents to talk to their child about our school’s Merit Scheme where students can collect merit certificates and progress through to Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards to eventually achieve a Principal’s Award. Access the following link for more information about the scheme.

Support Unit

The Support Unit has enjoyed a fantastic term filled with student successes. In Week 3, four students proudly represented the school at the Inclusive Schools Sport Tenpin Bowling State Finals, securing an impressive third place in the state! Congratulations to Daniel, Dante, Erana, and Tristyn for their hard work and exceptional skills on the day. A special thank you to Mrs. Hovey and Mrs. Castillo for their outstanding coaching and leadership, which contributed significantly to this achievement. Our Multicultural Day was another highlight, with Mrs. Shaji and the support students delivering a captivating Indian cultural dance performance. The dancers showcased beautiful technique and passion, earning well-deserved admiration from all attendees. A heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Shaji for dedicating her time to helping the performers perfect their routine. We are also excited about our Presentation Evening, where we will celebrate students receiving Best in Class awards. We look forward to sharing this special occasion with students and their families. The transition program for incoming Year 7 students in 2025 has been successfully completed. It was heartwarming to see so many eager and enthusiastic students preparing for the next step in their educational journey. The Support Unit team thoroughly enjoyed meeting families and welcoming them into the Elderslie High School community. On behalf of the Support Unit team, I wish all our students and families a restful and enjoyable break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in 2025!

As we approach the end of another remarkable year, it is with great pleasure and pride that we celebrate the outstanding achievements of our students. This year has been filled with triumphs, growth, and resilience, and we are thrilled to recognise the exceptional accomplishments of our students.

As we reflect on the achievements of the past year, we would like to express our gratitude to the entire Elderslie High School community—teachers, staff, parents, and students—for contributing to the vibrant and nurturing environment that allows these accomplishments to thrive. We would also like to acknowledge the commitment of our families who have worked in partnership with the school to support your children’s learning and wellbeing.

Wishing everyone a joyful, safe and restful holiday season.
